Position Overview

The Safety Manager will provide safety and occupational health leadership to all departmental areas.


Responsibilities

* Responsible for all aspects of safety, including OSHA, Illness and Injury Prevention, SDS, safety audits, and accident investigations; partner with other departments with Risk Management Plan and Process Safety Management.
* Influence, lead and aid in strengthening a proactive safety culture.
* Act as a liaison with OSHA activities to strengthen response, reduce costs, and ensure target deadlines are met.
* Analyze and interpret risk data to identify opportunities within the division and cascade communication through all levels of the organization.
* Support site with divisional program implementation by partnering with leadership to tailor program needs that fit the facility based on what is achievable and still meet key objectives.
* Network with divisional support teams to problem solve current prioritized issues to mitigate risk and further objectives.
* Manage plant safety and risk programs to ensure a safe and accident free work environment.
* Provide technical advice, coaching, guidance, and mentoring to employees on safety initiatives and necessary changes.
* Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes and implement solutions to reduce or eliminate hazards.
* Plan and deliver programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices.
* Ensure required PPE is provided and used appropriately by GBMD employees and contractors.
* Maintain safety- related paperwork including OSHA 300 logs.


Qualifications

* A degree in safety or related discipline is preferred; experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.
* ASP or CSP certification is preferred.
* OSHA 30 certification required.
* Extensive safety experience in an industrial setting.
* Deep understanding of legal health and safety laws and documentation at all levels.
* The ability to effectively work with various contractor and operating groups assuring safety compliance and accountability through auditing, process evaluations, implementation of new requirements, and review of policies.
* Superior verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively deliver and reinforce consistent messages at all levels within the organization.
* Excellent written communication skills as it relates to writing policy and procedure.
