This recruitment is to fill two (2) positions #010107 & #010093

Position #010107 - 7:00 am - 3:30 pm; Monday - Friday with occasional evening and weekend hours required, as necessary.

Position # 010093 8:00 am - 4:30 pm; Monday - Friday with occasional evening and weekend hours required, as necessary.

Mandatory Position

This position is designated as 'mandatory' and, when contacted to report to work, its incumbent is expected to reach the building as expeditiously as possible using normal precautions as dictated by the adverse weather conditions.
Primary Purpose of Position
This is an entry-level Facility Maintenance Technician at the Contributing level work, with a specialty in HVAC. Works in the inspection/repair of existing mechanical systems and building structures with primary emphasis on hydronic systems. Additionally, this position is expected to be able to perform all general maintenance work at the contributing level. This position may also be given the opportunity to perform/learn another trade discipline either at the contributing or journey level. Tasks may include maintenance, repair, placement, fabrication, installation, alteration, and construction of facility components in assigned shops.
Minimum Education/Experience
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Essential Job Duties

  • Maintain, repair, place, fabricate, install, alter, and construct facility components that require the application of skills in planning, problem solving, and attention to detail, teamwork, communication and adherence to safety.
  • Perform routine maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and/or the physical condition of buildings do no deteriorate.
  • Use electrical test devices to troubleshoot and repair chiller electrical control circuits.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary.

Other Work Responsibilities

  • Act as a contributing level worker and provide assistance to other facility maintenance technicians.
  • Work with supervision or instruction, and complete work with competence and professionalism in compliance with generally accepted trade practices.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, and managers, and provide high-quality customer service based on University policy and procedures.
  • Record daily activities in an order tracking system (Archibus).
  • Perform other duties as assigned and/or delegated to support all operations.

Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • 2 - 4 years of HVAC experience preferred.
  • Effective comprehensive skills in verbal, written and interpersonal communications.
  • Computer knowledge and skill; experience with Google Chrome, and willingness to learn new programs.
  • Ability to foster and create an atmosphere of teamwork.

Necessary Licenses or Certifications

  • Positions may be required to possess and maintain required certification, licensure, educational level, and/or experience criteria as applicable to the tasks being performed and follow applicable building codes.

  • Valid driver's license required. The RUP Shop position requires the operation of assigned vehicles on and/or off campus and is required to possess, maintain, or obtain a valid driver's license upon appointment to the position.

  • EPA 608 Universal certification is required for this position - (candidate must obtain on their own within 6 months of hire; first consideration will be given to candidates with a valid certification).
