Mechanics Bank is currently searching for an SEC and Regulatory Reporting Director. Here at Mechanics Bank, we value connection, partnership, long term relationships and working together in person. This role will be working on-site at our Walnut Creek, CA office.

The SEC and Regulatory Reporting Director will be responsible for all internal and external financial reporting including leading technical accounting efforts.

What you will be doing:

  • The coordination and preparation of all SEC filings including 10-Q, 10- K, 8- K, Etc. and Call Reports. These reports include monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements with accompanying footnotes and disclosures. Also includes the Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A).

  • Primary technical accounting resource including monitoring significant new pronouncements by SEC, US GAAP, PCAOB, or other regulations. Analyze and assess the impact of changing accounting rules and communicate them to Senior Management. Also ensures compliance with reporting guidelines.

  • Coordinate the review of filings with external auditors, legal counsel, accounting staff and executive management.

  • Coordinate with professional service providers to lead the ongoing maintenance of the Company's internal controls framework in compliance with SOX requirements around financial reporting.

  • Maintain quarterly reporting timetable and monitor progress against reporting cycle milestones.

  • Assist with establishment, documentation, and maintenance of the banks accounting policies and procedures. May assist with various accounting related items, i.e. evaluation of goodwill impairment tests.

  • Supervises and mentors junior level managers/staff.

Who you are:

  • Required 7 SEC Reporting experience

  • Required 3 Leadership experience

  • Required 10 Technical experience

  • CPA highly preferred

  • 4 year Bachelor's Degree highly preferred

  • Combination of private industry and public accounting experience.

  • Advanced technical accounting knowledge coupled with exceptional planning and organizational skills.

  • Prior experience designing, implementing, and documenting policies and procedures-in a SOX environment.

  • Experience with the following systems is preferred: Peoplesoft/Fusion, Workiva, FedReporterSmartCall, Fiserv/FIS Banking Core.

  • Experience with XBRL tagging.

Salary: $177,000-260,000 annually

Final compensation package will be determined by the work experience, education, and/or skill level of the applicant along with internal equity and alignment with geographic market data.
