Join our Digital News Operations team and help shape the future of digital journalism. We're looking for a strategic and detail-oriented leader who's passionate about news and thrives at the intersection of editorial, operations, and business strategy. In this role, you will help drive efficiency, alignment, and innovation across our digital newsroom and broader business operations. Your work will directly support the editorial mission while advancing our long-term digital growth.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operational & Editorial Alignment

  • Partner closely with editorial teams to ensure operational workflows and systems support content strategy, speed, and scale.

  • Design and implement solutions that streamline newsroom operations across platforms and departments.

  • Maintain a deep understanding of editorial priorities to ensure business and operational decisions are aligned.

Business Strategy & Execution

  • Identify and lead strategic initiatives to grow and elevate our digital news business, with a focus on innovation, efficiency, and scalability.

  • Translate big-picture goals into actionable roadmaps, timelines, and project plans.

  • Surface new opportunities to drive revenue, audience growth, and content optimization.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as the connective tissue between editorial, product, engineering, audience development, sales, marketing, legal, and finance.

  • Manage cross-team initiatives, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and with clear communication throughout.

  • Represent editorial perspectives in conversations about tools, platforms, and resource allocation.

Project & Program Management

  • Oversee key projects from concept through execution-tracking milestones, dependencies, and outcomes.

  • Establish best practices for managing editorial workflows and tools, including CMS and project tracking systems.

  • Support onboarding and training efforts to ensure team members are equipped with the tools and knowledge to succeed.

Team Support & Development

  • Mentor and support junior staff and program participants, including interns and associates.

  • Champion a culture of collaboration, agility, and continuous improvement across the digital team.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • 4+ years of experience in digital operations, project or program management, preferably within a digital media or news organization.

  • Editorial knowledge is essential-whether through direct newsroom experience or through working closely with editorial teams.

  • Passion for digital journalism and a strong interest in shaping the business behind the news.

  • Experience with project management and workflow tools such as Airtable, Slack, Jira, or Trello.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and cross-functional leadership skills.

  • Ability to think strategically while executing with precision.

  • Familiarity with digital publishing tools and trends; experience with generative AI tools is a plus.

  • Bachelor's degree required.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $106,000.00-150,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
