Sr. Director of Program Management
San Mateo, CA

The Sr. Director of Program Management is an inspirational leader who will bring together the teams responsible for the Hardware and Software that Sony Interactive Entertainment delivers on behalf of it's customers. This person will act with a sense of purpose and urgency for execution to ensure the successful "end-to-end" delivery of programs across the PlayStation suite of Hardware, Software, and Service Platforms by a globally distributed team.

You will have proven success in leading product development teams, leading the transformation of global program management organizations, developing collaborative high- performance teams to achieve higher-valued added activities, while leveraging program management methodologies.

The Sr. Director of Program Management will have excellent leadership, analytical, and planning skills. They will be the voice of the Program status to peers and senior executives across the company.

This leader will help define the product development process, and identify metrics that will help the organization track progress and improvement. In addition, this leader will own end-to-end product delivery, from strategy to launch to sunsetting.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Build and Lead Teams:



  • Attract, encourage, develop, and retain a high-performing geographically distributed program management team.
  • Lead a team of talented program managers overseeing complex, full-stack, outcome-driven projects across Hardware, Software, and Service Platforms.


Strategic Program Management:



  • Develop and influence program delivery strategy, ensuring end-to-end delivery of programs.
  • Optimize product development best practices.


Communication and Collaboration:



  • Proactively communicate opportunities and risk with senior executives, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
  • Collaborate with key leadership stakeholders to assess and streamline processes, mitigating risks and generating efficiencies.


Efficiency and Innovation:



  • Drive efficiencies and linkages between projects by identifying shared services.
  • Lead efforts to continuously measure and evolve internal program processes with an objective of accelerating PMO, Engineering, Product, Design, and Quality.


Identify ways to do more with less.



  • Embrace and build a culture of experimentation - where good ideas come from all parts of the organization.


Leadership and Culture:



  • Support the transformation of the current program management office to higher-valued added activities across the product lifecycle.
  • Embrace a culture of ownership and accountability across the teams that you work with.
  • Foster and model a diverse and inclusive work environment across teams.


Qualifications & Requirements



  • Demonstrated leadership qualities, including a history of working across different organizational levels - including the most senior leaders of the organization.
  • Proven experience in driving transformative initiatives and understanding diverse geographical and cultural needs.
  • In-depth expertise in program structure design.
  • Expertise in leveraging data and technology to measure progress and ensure success at a scalable level.
  • Proven track record in advocating for and implementing new investments in technology, especially in data utilization for program management.
  • Previous success in navigating challenges associated with a broad set of internal and external constituents.
  • Demonstrated ability to honor and respect the past while effectively focusing on continuous improvement and avoiding stagnation.
  • 15+ years' experience leading technical development or PMO teams at a global scale.
  • Experience defining the vision and strategy and leading highly performant teams to successful implementation.
  • Extensive experience in managing strategic change through projects, programs, and portfolios and holds a clear vision of "what it takes" to manage and successfully deliver programs and projects.
  • Broad experience with tools and techniques, methods, and implementation in planning, execution, change control, etc.
  • Knowledge of game industry or digital entertainment preferred but not a requirement (preferred experience)

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role's base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

In addition, this role

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.
$278,800 $418,200 USD
