As an Assistant Operations Manager, you'll help lead our teams in maintaining high standards of operational efficiency while prioritizing the safety of all team members. As a steward of operational excellence an Assistant Operations Manager will need to be flexible and adapt to changing operational needs and schedules. Summary: The Assistant Operations Manager in the M&R Department will ensure a safe and efficient environment for the Terminal Maintenance & Repair Program.

Essential Duties:



  • Develops and executes operating plans designed to improve customer service, productivity, safety and quality of operating activities.
  • Communicate with line representatives on out of service equipment and cost of repairs.
  • Maintain statistics on all available and out of service equipment.
  • Coordinate daily labor orders for M&R and Reefer Operations.
  • Keep Manager aware of current operational status by regular communications and by issuing reports as directed.
  • Ensure good communication between Maintenance and Terminal Operations to minimize equipment downtime and maximize gate operation fluidity.
  • Ensure that all work orders and reports are completed accurately and submitted on time to appropriate staff.
  • Ensures that the parts inventory meets the needs of the repairs to be performed.
  • Ensure safety, health, and environmental standards are met throughout the operation
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Requirements:



  • HS Diploma or GED Equivalent with 3+ of operations supervisory experience OR Four (4) year college degree in Marine Operations, Management, Business Administration, or related discipline.
  • Requires the ability to obtain and maintain a TWIC Card issued by the Department of Homeland Security.
  • Requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Port Access Card issued by the NJ State Police.
  • A valid Driver's License in good standing is required.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Previous experience in a supervisory role or supervising ILA Longshore Labor a plus.
  • Sense of Urgency & Self-Starter Mentality A MUST.
  • Requires good leadership skill.
  • High level of planning and organizational skills needed.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written English.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional time management, due to fast-moving, demanding work environment.
  • Must be computer literate; proficient with Microsoft Office - Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint
