Responsibilities

Interview Process:

The interview process will consist of a 3 step process; first round candidates may be invited to complete an on demand video interview; from the on demand video interview round, competitive candidates may be invited to participate in a case study. Following the case study, competitive candidates may be invited to a live hiring team interview where selected candidates will be asked to present their case study to the interview panel.

As a Data Analyst within P&C Claims, you will design, build, and maintain reporting solutions that will provide senior leadership with actionable insights to help drive data-informed decisions and improve operational efficiency. As part of this team, you will report directly to the Director of Claims Process Engineering and be uniquely positioned with the exciting opportunity to directly influence Claims' leadership decisions through relevant, actionable financial data analysis. You will enable the mission of State Farm, informing how we can help more customers in more ways.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts enterprise-wide analyses of disparate operational data sets, establishing methods aimed at identifying and understanding issues impacting Property & Casualty Claims operations
  • Analyzes claim information and provides recommendations to assist Claims leadership with management and allocation of business resources
  • Develops and reviews analysis methods/techniques and related programming for analyst peers and ongoing department work
  • Conducts research and analysis, responds to questions, makes recommendations, and develops solutions in area of expertise
  • Operates in an agile technical work environment, prepared to learn and utilize new tools and languages on a regular basis. Languages and tools include but are not limited to SQL, Python, various AWS services, and dashboarding tools such as Power BI and Qlikview.

Items of Note

  • Position requires understanding and application of technical concepts (e.g., programming, big data concepts), familiarity with statistical procedures, database querying and design experience, research analysis and technical report writing experience
  • May be required to work additional hours, overtime hours, or non-standard hours, including varying work shifts, nights, weekends and holidays, based on workload and as the operation dictates
  • May require overnight travel via commercial transportation or driving motor vehicles to any office locations where the Company does business, or other locations to conduct/attend training, conferences, meetings, and/or seminars
  • Hybrid Work arrangement: A "Hybrid" position means selected candidates will be assigned to a facility and will spend some time working both in office and from their home.



Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following skills:

  • Degree in Business/Finance/Accounting/Economics/Mathematics/Statistics or a related field is preferred
  • Intellectual curiosity and a growth mindset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and an ability to work with all levels of leadership
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to dig deep into trends, learn business tools, and actively seek means to improve processes and controls
  • Broad business and financial acumen
  • Proficiency in Power BI and Microsoft Excel, including utilization of advanced formulas and report automation techniques
  • Experience with business intelligence data systems, financial/statistical resources, and analytical software is a plus.

  • Potential starting salary range: $104,000.00 to $139,500.00
    • Starting salary will be based on skills, background, and experience
    • High end of the range limited to applicants with significant relevant experience
  • Potential yearly incentive pay up to 15% of base salary
