The Opportunity: The purpose of this role is to manage the effective delivery of payroll services, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and maximizing value for the organization. This role involves helping to oversee the administration of accurate and efficient payroll processing, payments, garnishments, new hires, address changes, location changes, LOAs, and providing regulatory compliant advice on payroll transaction processes. Additionally, support post payroll confirmation processes, reconciliations, and other specialized payroll activities.

  • Location: Sun Prairie, WI

  • Work Arrangement: This role is hybrid, where you will be expected to be in the office 2-3 days per week.

  • The salary range for this role is between $29.75 - $44.50 per hour.

Your New Role

  • Partner with payroll vendors to ensure accurate processing of bi-weekly payroll and system changes, following procedures to meet business, legal, and regulatory requirements.

  • Ensure employee time entry is accurate and complete, and related approvals are maintained for payroll processing.

  • Ensure employee data changes (new hires, address changes, location changes, terminations, direct deposits, garnishments, work schedules and tax elections) are complete and accurate for payroll processing. Audit for accuracy.

  • Monitor and track Leaves of Absences and assure correct pay for all employees on LOA. Figure overpayments and prepare calculations and letters for the Leaves Administrator to disseminate to employees.

  • Administer pay and deduction-related inputs, including interfaces and file feeds.

  • Post payroll funding, audits, reconciliations including employee stock purchase plan processing and other tasks.

  • Assist team with preparing and providing information for audits, reviewing audit reports for completeness and accuracy, and resolving errors as needed.

  • Create and maintain reports such as Dept. of Labor and/or Worker's Comp reporting by preparing information for dissemination and/or review by other team members. Analyze for data integrity to identify discrepancies, research root causes, and develop solutions.

  • Provide personalized and quality customer service by researching employee inquiries and providing resolution in an accurate, timely, thorough, helpful, and respectful manner.

  • Resolve problems by assessing the need for escalation of issues and influencing positive change by analyzing employee inquiries and effectively communicating with internal customers.

  • Streamline process flow and increase productivity by helping assign resources, identifying the need for change, and implementing solutions to continuously improve our processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience

  • 4 years relevant experience

  • Payroll experience in multi-state taxation environment with all local taxes

  • Experience with SAP or ADP Globalview payroll system preferred

  • Workday HR system experience helpful

  • Experience in payroll, regulatory and administration functions

Preferred Competencies

  • Communication Skills: Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication to build relationships.

  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.

  • Tax Knowledge: Current knowledge of federal, state, and local taxes for all states and necessary employee setup.

  • Payroll Expertise: Understanding of payroll procedures, timekeeping, tax processes, and the Smart Compliance module with ADP.

  • Computer: Moderate Excel skills and ability to adapt to new computer technologies. Knowledge of Word.

  • Analytical Skills: Ability to audit payroll items, identify issues, and lead resolutions using effective research and investigative techniques.

  • Attention to Detail: High volume, accurate data entry, and maintaining attention to detail.

  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt and be flexible in a complex, changing environment, manage multiple projects, and prioritize competing responsibilities.

  • Customer Service: Deliver quality customer service, anticipate and respond to customer needs, and resolve conflicts and problems effectively.

  • Problem Solving: Research to determine root cause and propose solutions.

Preferred Licenses/Certifications

  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) helpful

Compensation Package: The salary range for this role is provided above. This is the national range for location(s) listed. The salary offer will be decided based on the role's complexity, its location, and the candidate's professional background, including their education and experience.
