Description

The Parts Manager performs work related to the control of automotive parts inventory. This position is responsible for maintaining the parts inventory for the department as well as ordering, receiving, and issuing the same. This work is performed under general supervision - the incumbent normally receives little instruction on routine work and general instruction on new projects and assignments; work is reviewed periodically with primary feedback given with final results. Work is reviewed through observation and review of results achieved.


Examples of Duties

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Order all necessary parts and materials for the department.

Requisition inventory and materials, supplies and issue equipment.

Review and process inventory transactions; maintain inventory files and records; prepare and generate reports.

Prepare, receive, and evaluate quotes from vendors.

Conduct and reconcile inventory audit.

Keep track of inventory on computer.

Perform other work as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Working knowledge of departmental and municipal rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Workingknowledge of occupational hazards, safety rules, and practices and the ability to transmit such knowledge to subordinates.

Working knowledge of the practices, methods, materials, and tools used in modern equipment maintenance.

Working knowledge of vehicles and equipment used by the City.

Skill in the operation of modern office equipment, computers, and software, including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

Ability to seek out and obtain the best price for the goods used.

Ability to understand written and verbal instructions; read and understand operator and repair manuals.

Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors, city officials, and the general public.

Ability to communicate information tactfully and impartially, both in person and in writing with all staff, city officials, and the general public.

Ability to demonstrate proficiency in the City of Winter Park Core Competencies.

Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and keep accurate records.

This position is performed with working knowledge - the incumbent has ability to recall and apply important and commonly-used information from relevant source documents or information in a particular subject field.


Typical Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or equivalent; supplemented by a minimum of three years of responsible inventory experience, preferably related to vehicles/vehicle maintenance.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience, which provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities and other competencies required for the position may be considered.

CERTIFICATIONS, TRAINING, SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Driver's License, Class E or higher.

NOTE: All required certifications must be current at the time of application and maintained in an active state as a condition of continued employment.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Physical

This is medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force repetitively to lift, carry, push, pull, and reposition objects.

Ability to traverse about a variety of city facilities/jobsites, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Ability to ascend/descend stairs, scaffolds, and ladders.

Ability to remain stationary at jobsites for extended periods of time and repetitively operate related equipment for repairs/maintenance.

Ability to manipulate objects and demonstrate small, precise movements repetitively.

Environmental

Tasks may require infrequent exposure to adverse environmental conditions including inclement weather, sun, extreme temperatures, odors, dirt and dust, loud noises, and hazardous chemicals, etc.

Sensory

Tasks require the manipulation of objects and demonstration of small, precise movements, the ability to detect and distinguish various features of one's surroundings, and the ability to effectively communicate and exchange information with others.
