Description

The Director of Deposit Services is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the organization's deposit operations and ensuring the delivery of high-quality service to both internal and external members. This leader oversees key operational functions, including deposit procedures, quality assurance, retirement account processing, business and specialty account audits, deceased member claims, safe deposit box management, account research and deposit verifications, legal processing requests (such as subpoenas, search warrants, levies and garnishments), tax reporting and employee account requests. This role involves developing and implementing strategic initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, and provide comprehensive support to internal teams.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operations and performance of the Deposit Services team, ensuring efficiency, accuracy and professionalism
  • Provide technical expertise on core system and account origination software programs
  • Manage complex member situations, responding effectively under pressure
  • Develop and implement policies related to deposit compliance and operations
  • Maintain and update processes and procedures to ensure consistent service and compliance with policies
  • Provide process and procedure support to branches and Member Experience Center, ensuring prompt and effective resolutions to inquiries
  • Manage IRA/HSA Program Manager and own the IRA/HSA operations, processes, procedures, and training delivered to internal teams
  • Active participant of the Enterprise Risk Management Committee and responsible for reviewing, communicating and implementing compliance throughout the credit union
  • Lead and coordinate the annual tax reporting process as it relates to deposit and retirement accounts. This includes collaboration with the IRS Compliance team, review and validation of tax reporting information, and communicating resource guides and timelines internally
  • Manage the Safe Deposit Box function across all branch locations maintaining boxes, ensuring compliance with all regulations and consistent application of procedures
  • Active participant of the IT Operations Committee, reviewing documentation on periodic system upgrades, performing regression testing, communicating changes and updating procedures as applicable
  • Identify and address data discrepancies at the member and deposit account levels
  • Fulfill periodic audit requests from internal and external auditors, ensuring timely and accurate submission of required documentation and information
  • Proactively assess risks, identify inefficiencies, and recommend improvements to operations
  • Collaborate with member experience leaders to address training needs, resource materials and procedures
  • Foster strong relationships and collaborate with internal business units to support organizational goals and initiatives
  • Serve as a key stakeholder and subject matter expert in overseeing and executing all deposit-related merger activities, ensuring seamless integration of systems, processes, and teams while maintaining operational continuity and compliance

Other Duties

  • Comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal banking regulations including but not limited to: OFAC requirements, Regulation E, Regulation CC, and NCUA governance

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support effective department operation
  • Weekly schedule includes Saturday hours

Requirements

Experience/Education/Certifications/Licenses

  • High School degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years previous leadership experience
  • 6-7 years of similar or related experience
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in related field a plus
  • Knowledge of Fiserv DNA Core Banking platform desired

Demonstrated Knowledge

  • Develop solutions to improve process efficiency
  • Project management, testing, and implementation experience
  • Proficient with mathematical concepts such as statistics, ratios, fractions, percentage?

Communication Skills

Ability to develop and implement responses to members/staff to document and develop new and ongoing techniques to improve processes; written communications draw from expert information from the field whether as an individual contributor or manager

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit and stand; answer calls; operate computer; interact with internal staff and public on the phone; travel to designated offices; lift up to 20 lbs.

The salary range for this position is: $89,150.53-$111,437.78. This range reflects the base salary for this position. We have other benefits associated with this position which include: low-cost medical (as low as $20 a paycheck), dental insurance, vision insurance, quarterly bonuses, generous vacation and sick time hours, paid leave options, up to 6% 401k contribution, and tuition reimbursement.
