Job Summary

This individual will serve as a nutrition resource for coaches, teachers, trainers, food service personnel, sports medical staff, academic services staff, and others within the department as appropriate. The individual will assist the Sports Dietician in all aspects of Nutrition for the department of Athletics.

Essential Functions



  • Provide assessment and counseling for sport-specific and gender-specific recommendations regarding optimal body composition and weight for good health and optimal athletic performance.
  • Recommend appropriate pre-, during, and post-exercise fluids and snacks for individual training, team practice, and competition.
  • Serve as a member of the menu management team for the fueling stations, charged with enhancing the nutritional content of recipes and production techniques for nutritionally adequate meals for athletic performance and recovery.
  • Evaluate sports supplements, including research of herbal supplements for legality, safety, quality, and efficacy, and continual research of the changing sports supplement industry.
  • Responsible for assisting with ordering, inventory, and procurement of goods through necessary vendors for all athletic fueling stations.
  • Manage student worker schedule and assist with day-to-day operations.


Required Qualifications



  • Minimum of Master's Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related.
  • Must be a Registered Dietitian, or has sat in/has ability to sit for the Registration Examination for Dietitians administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) within 3 months of start date.

Additional Information
This is a Part-Time Casual position classified as Non-Exempt. The offered pay is based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
