GENERAL SUMMARY

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, System Chief Nursing Executive, the Vice President of Nursing Operations will oversee implementation and operations deployment and ongoing management of nursing specific initiatives and strategic plan priorities. Works in collaboration with executive leadership, both clinical and non-clinical, to provide exemplary quality, customer service, and operating results. Identifies key organizational growth needs/opportunities, assesses, and quantifies potential opportunities and risks, facilitates standardization discussions, and assembles and executes implementation plans and establishes monitoring dashboards/processes.

Additionally, the VP of Nursing Operations ensures ongoing success of nursing priorities through close collaboration of clinical and operational leadership and other essential stakeholders in strategy and program development. Drives the use, selection, and expansion of technology across nursing in collaboration with the system Chief Nursing Informatics Office and Chief Nurse Executive. Provides system leadership for overall operations, human resources, and information technology.

Finally, the VP of Nursing Operations fosters a culture of innovation, employee development, safety, accreditation, and overall business performance. Exercises a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision making in collaboration with other executive leadership to support and achieve organizational objectives and integrate the system capacity command with the vision and mission of the organization and its operating units to optimize overall efficiency and effectiveness.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:



  • Seven to ten (7 to 10) years of previous hospital management experience required relevant to the specific position.
  • Structured process improvement (e.g. lean) training strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills for written, verbal, presentation, and computer communication required.
  • Experience in an academic medical setting as well as both inpatient and ambulatory experience desirable.
  • Exceptional business acumen including experience in contracting required.


EDUCATION REQUIRED:



  • Master's degree in nursing or equivalent degree required
