The Opportunity
Reporting to the Director, Digital Communications the Manager with a matrixed reporting relationship with the Senior Director, Training & Communications, the Manager, Technical Communications will partner with the Senior Director of Training & Communications as well as clinical, technical, and operations leadership to design and develop communication strategies and implementation plans to support Digital Clinical Systems programs and new initiatives, at Mass General Brigham. Work includes standing activities such as authoring monthly Digital Download newsletter and ongoing maintenance of Vitals technical communications portal, as well as developing and executing communication plans for Digital Clinical Systems projects and initiatives. Duties Include 1. Work and people management. Lead and guide the Clinical Systems Technical Communications Team focused on design and implementation of Clinical Systems communications programs and initiatives. Supervise the day-to-day work of Clinical Systems technical communications team, including equitable distribution of assignments, ensuring alignment of communication plans to broader Digital Communications strategy, and promote upskilling, growth and development of team. 2. Design and implement Digital Clinical Systems Communication Programs. Develop enterprise-wide technical and clinical communication plans using multiple modalities (e.g. Vitals, email, video, etc.) to inform MGB employees of Digital Clinical Systems programs and initiatives. Work with appropriate teams to identify audiences, impacts and timelines and create impactful and targeted communication programs. Participate in project workgroups to ensure communication needs are addressed on an ongoing basis. Engage with MGB Internal Communications and appropriate teams to distribute or amplify messaging to end users when appropriate 3. Write and publish monthly Digital Download newsletter. Work with appropriate Digital and Clinical Systems leaders and teams to identify content and create targeted messaging. Integrate content on Vitals, when appropriate. 4. Build, maintain, and oversee reporting for Vitals content for Digital Clinical Systems and appropriate projects/programs. Continually explore ways to engage users with content and increase traffic. 5. Provide video development support for Digital Clinical Systems initiatives and the broader Digital team as needed. Write scripts and employ appropriate production tools including but not limited to Annimaker, Synthesia, Camtasia, and PowerPoint. 6. Continuously Improves Digital Clinical Systems End User adoption content and delivery. Evaluate the effectiveness of content and delivery methods by monitoring usage, measuring participant's satisfaction and perceived value. Create continuous quality improvement process to incorporate this feedback into content preparation and delivery planning to improve future services to better meet the needs of end users. 7. Acts as a steward of resources: Adheres to and tracks management of operating budget for technical communications. Monitors budget throughout the fiscal year, keeping projects on time and on budget. Maintain knowledge of current technology, prices and terms of agreements to minimize the investment required to meet established service levels and leads license renewal process with vendors, contracting, and Finance. Commits to outreach to other like Epic leaders across the industry and participation in user groups to gain new knowledge and tools should be an ongoing priority. 6. Demonstrates excellent service quality: Empowers, promotes, and encourages staff to provide high quality customer service for communications delivery, recognizing Digital and clinical communities as equal and valued customers. 7. All other duties as assigned. 1. Bachelor's degree in communications studies 2. Must have 5 years' experience in communications related field with at least 2 years' experience with complex information systems or healthcare experience 3. Demonstrated strong commitment to progress, customer service and teamwork. Self-directed: Motivated, energetic and creative; self-starter requires little direction but not averse to feedback and guidance Strong project management skills: able to manage and track to completion multiple projects with detailed timelines. Comfortable as a Manager in a highly matrixed environment: Able to coordinate a group of clinicians, staff and administrators, and exert decisiveness in an unobtrusive way; exhibits strong supervisory and management skills of individuals and teams; demonstrated expertise in achieving consensus in highly charged arenas; proven ability to manage and motivate in a complex, regularly changing environment Collaborative: Strong influence skills and the ability to drive outcomes through collaborative relationships with key stakeholders; excellent record of successfully solving complex problems across diverse departments and domains both internal and external to IS Results-oriented: Focus on solutions for relevant concrete issues; demonstrates pride in being able to demonstrate consistent reliability Strategic: Able to quickly understand and discuss situations and challenges; and make decisions Technically proficient: Understanding or able to quickly learn clinical workflow, patient care practices and operations, information systems attributes, budgets, and operations systems and processes; experience with enabling technology for communications and training; project management skills Direct and open communication: Concise, articulate, constructive and plain speaking as a communicator; able to communicate effectively orally and in writing Ethical & trustworthy: Widely trusted and keeps confidences Respected: Able to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies; Exhibits strong professional and proficient persona Physical Requirements
