Job Description

Position Overview:

The department of Family and Community Medicine is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Credentialing Specialist to join our department. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the credentialing and re-credentialing process for physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare professionals within the department. This position plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and maintaining accurate, up-to-date credentialing records.

Key Responsibilities:

Credentialing and Re-credentialing:

o Perform initial credentialing and re-credentialing of healthcare providers in accordance with accreditation, regulatory, and University policies and procedures.
o Ensure timely submission and follow-up on credentialing applications with appropriate regulatory agencies, including insurance payers, state medical boards, and accreditation organizations.

Verification of Credentials:

o Verify healthcare professionals' education, licensure, certifications, work history, malpractice history, and other qualifications.
o Monitor the status of physician and provider licenses, certifications, and other necessary credentials to ensure compliance with University and healthcare system requirements.

Compliance and Documentation Management:

o Maintain accurate and up-to-date credentialing files, databases, and documentation for all providers.
o Monitor changes to healthcare regulations, policies, and accreditation standards to ensure compliance across the department.

Collaboration:

o Work closely with medical staff leadership, department managers, and external agencies to ensure the credentialing process is efficiently managed.
o Communicate with healthcare providers to collect necessary documentation and provide status updates on credentialing applications.

Reporting and Audits:

o Prepare and submit credentialing reports to the Credentialing Manager, Medical Staff Office, and external agencies as required.
o Assist in audits of credentialing files to ensure the department remains compliant with accrediting bodies, healthcare providers, and insurance carriers.

Customer Service:

o Act as the primary point of contact for providers regarding credentialing issues and inquiries.
o Provide professional, timely responses to any questions related to credentialing processes and requirements.

Shift

Shift Type: Monday through Friday 8am - 5pm
(Clinical) Office/Administrative Hours: Yes - Position will have Office/Admin Hours
Flexibility for Alternative Schedules: No

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities can be acquired.
One (1) year of experience confirming work history, education, training, background, and/or reference checks or similar experience.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Hiring Range: $19.15 - $24.50
