The Hawthorne Starship Machining team machines and delivers parts used in critical applications on Starship/Super Heavy - from regulators and solenoids to butterfly valves. The Tool Crib Attendant will order, maintain, inspect, set-up, and troubleshoot CNC tools to maximize output of high-quality machined parts to increase launch rate and reduce vehicle cost.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Receive, store and issue tool setting related equipment, hydraulic, shrink fit and other supplies used in Starship component machining
- Accurately maintain computerized records of all tools and equipment in inventory
- Inspect items received into tool crib for defects, wear or damage and report any issues to lead or supervisor
- Manage spares and replacements to keep shrink fit machine/hydraulic tool setter equipment in good operating order
- Work effectively with purchasing department to maintain adequate tool crib spares inventory
- Utilize set up sheets in order to prepare tools and fixtures needed for production
- Assist in identifying tool issues and initiating corrective action processes as necessary
- Perform safety audit observations as required of the tool crib area
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 3+ years of experience working with tool inventory control, in a factory/production environment, or completion of a machining certification
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in using various type of tool setting equipment, hydraulic, shrink fit, etc.
- Understand a variety of holders and their purposes
- Understand cutting tools, geometry, coating, wear, etc.
- Experienced in setting tools holding total indicator runout (TIR) <0.0003"
- Experience reading blueprints/technical drawings
- Experience using various measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, profilometers, and borescopes
- Deburr experience using various deburr techniques using manual and automated equipment
- Experience working in a machine shop and knowledge of CNC machining
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to maintain a safe and clean working environment while adhering to company policies, quality policies, and industry standards
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Estimated start time: 1st shift (5:00 AM)
- Able to lift 35 lbs. unassisted
- Must be available for overtime and weekends as needed
- Must be capable of standing and kneeling for 8 hours
- Comfortable with repetitive movement, bending or twisting, and using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls, and exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting
- Ability to be exposed to sounds and noise levels that are distracting
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Pay range: Tool Crib Attendant/Level 4: $29.00 - $33.00/hour Tool Crib Attendant/Level 5: $32.00 - $35.00/hour Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience. Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
