The Opportunity:

The UCF Student Success and Well-Being (SSWB) Office of Student Care Services is currently accepting applications for an Associate Director of Student Care Services (SCS). The primary responsibility of this role is to provide mental health services that reduce barriers and create opportunities for greater academic success and well-being. This position provides oversight and management of the student of concern process for students facing mental health crisis.

The Associate Director, SCS will oversee and coordinate on and off campus referrals and resources for students, mandatory processes and procedures, and work thoroughly to follow up after the immediate crisis.

This position supports the Division of SSWB in helping the university ensure the safety of the university community, while balancing the needs, well-being, retention, persistence, and graduation of students.

Responsibilities:



  • Reviews and triages students of concern reports related to mental health and well-being daily.

  • Provides leadership and support to the SCS team on mental health and well-being strategies.

  • Develops close working relationships with Counseling and Psychological Services, UCFPD, and/or Assistant Dean/Dean of Students or designee in situations with immediate concerns for the student's safety or the safety of others in the community.

  • Manages the Mandated Assessment process when students return from involuntary hospitalization, medical leave, and/or involuntary withdrawal.

  • Manages the student's re-entry to UCF to ensure appropriate members of the university community are informed (Housing, UCFPD, Psychiatry, CAPS, etc.) and proper review of each student has been conducted before a student's return to campus.

  • Co-chairs the Student of Concern Team and collaborate on action plans to address concerns.

  • Serves as a member of the University Crisis Team on an ad-hoc basis. Serve on division and university committees, as needed.

  • Establishes, coordinates, and maintains streamlined communication and working relationships with community resources (i.e., physicians, therapists, psychiatrists, life coaches, and hospitals).

  • Provides consultation to students and families regarding referral to university and community resources, interpreting University policy, and facilitating family support.

  • Coordinates the well-being check process.

  • Reviews, gathers, and analyzes data that supports the department's monthly report, annual report, and institutional effectiveness plan.

  • Guides the UCF community on student issues by remaining current on best practices, emerging research, and strategies to reduce threats and support students in crisis or distress.

  • Provides training and workshops on supporting student success and students in distress to faculty and staff through informal channels.

  • Manages confidential student records according to the University policies, including destruction or archival of closed files.

  • Assists with managing situations such as student death, natural disasters, and post-intervention under the supervisor's guidance.

  • Supervises care coordinator(s).

  • Undertakes special projects as needed or requested by the supervisor.

  • Completes other duties as assigned by the Assistant Dean of Students and Dean of Students.

  • Oversees processes and procedures for students experiencing financial distress, including co-chairing the Knights Emergency Fund and University Homeless Student Committee.




Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of relevant experience or Master's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience, with at least 2+ year(s) of leadership experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

  • Master's degree.

  • Organizational leadership experience.
