PURPOSE: The Andersen Menomonie Engineering team is seeking an individual with strong organizational skills to support current production lines. Primary focus will be on monitoring, controlling, and improving existing manufacturing processes, and to ensure customer and business needs are met. Secondary focus will be on developing, implementing new processes, and supporting product line extensions.

SUMMARY

Role in the electrical and controls technical support area. Primary focus is contributing as a key member of a technical team supporting plant production as a subject matter expert in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and automation controls support. This position will work with operations, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to resolve production downtime, identify root causes, and investigate, develop, and test machine and process improvements.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze data; develop proposals focused on improvements and present to management. Improvement areas include safety, quality, delivery, cost, overall customer satisfaction, and reducing process variation.
  • Lead and/or support project teams on the successful commercialization and start-up of new fabrication equipment and processes.
  • Troubleshoot problems and perform root cause analysis with other technical employees, suppliers, and external experts
  • Develop and implement improvements to technical issues on machines and processes
  • Ensure built in quality by using DMAIC tools: Process mapping, process capability, C&E Matrix, fishbone diagram, FMEA, MSA, DOE, Control Plans.
  • Develop specifications to procure production equipment and/or complete production lines.
  • Create training tools, documents and standard operating procedures for production processes ensuring consistent manufacturability.
  • Drive corrective action through root cause identification and structured problem solving.

QUALIFICATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2-year technical degree or equivalent combination of formalized technical education and experience
  • Experience in working with PLC and PLC software for troubleshooting, modification of code, and adding new code
  • Experience within automation/electrical field
  • Troubleshooting skills for process and machine automation problems
  • Strong aptitude in process improvement and problem-solving
  • Must be able to read & interpret electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical drawings for equipment
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Communicate effectively through written, verbal, listening, and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge and experience with quality systems, statistical process control, process capability and lean manufacturing tools.
  • Some travel may be required, primary location Menomonie, WI

NICE-TO-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Rockwell Automation motion control applications
  • CNC application troubleshooting, programming, and maintaining

PROFIT SHARING: In 2025 Andersen has set a profit sharing target of $3,500 per eligible employee, prorated as appropriate. Profit sharing will be paid out in quarterly installments to provide eligible employees with payments throughout the year, with payment amounts tied to quarterly operating profit performance.
