As a Director, IT Data Center Operations, you will be trusted to lead and manage a comprehensive and global suite of connectivity and data center services that are critical to the organization's operations. This role involves overseeing a team responsible for ensuring the stability, availability, and performance of the global IT infrastructure, which includes Network Operations Centers, WAN/LAN/Voice services, Data Centers, and monitoring platforms. The Director is responsible for developing and executing strategies that align with business objectives, managing significant OPEX and CAPEX budgets, driving large-scale IT projects, and ensuring service excellence in a 24/7 operational environment. You will serve as the primary liaison between IT and vendors, fostering partnerships that optimize the technological landscape while controlling costs at Fort Worth, TX. In this role a typical day will include:

  • Leads and mentors a team of senior managers and engineers responsible for delivering end-to-end services across multiple IT domains, including data centers, WAN, LAN, voice, and monitoring tools.
  • Oversees the Network Operations Center, ensuring 24/7 support and operational excellence for the global network, covering 100 enterprise sites and 5 key data centers.
  • Manages WAN and LAN services, including architecture, engineering, and lifecycle management, ensuring network connectivity and performance meet organizational needs.
  • Directs data center operations across local and global facilities, providing design, implementation, and hosting services, and supporting the Fort Worth campus with over 5,000 users.
  • Owns voice services, including all telecommunication infrastructure, and ensures integration with other network services.
  • Governs monitoring and observability services, guiding the development of an integrated platform that supports both infrastructure and application performance monitoring.
  • Oversees large-scale projects, including hardware refreshes and network redesigns, managing a CAPEX budget of over $7 million and an OPEX budget of $11 million.
  • Drives IT service management processes in alignment with ITIL standards, focusing on incident, change, problem, and request management.
  • Ensures alignment with procurement standards for RFPs, manages vendor relationships, and negotiates contracts with hardware and service providers.
  • Develops and maintains operational KPIs and SLAs, ensuring all services are delivered within performance and financial targets, with a focus on reducing Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
  • Leads the development of technology strategies for future-proofing the infrastructure, focusing on scalability, efficiency, and alignment with business goals.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Master's Degree preferred

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +18 yrs; Assoc.+14 yrs; M.S.+7 yrs; PhD+6 yrs)
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
  • 10 Years of Relevant Experience
  • 6 Years of Demonstrated Leadership
