Responsibilities
Summary: We are looking for a skilled and innovative Communications Specialist to join the Citizen Security & Public Services Sector (CSPS) Strategy Team. The ideal candidate will bring exceptional writing, research, organizational, and creative abilities to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. In this key role, you will develop compelling communications and marketing materials that effectively engage our target audience, while also supporting the planning and execution of impactful events and social media presence. This is a hybrid role with at least 2 days per week in the Reston, VA office. Key Responsibilities:
Develop a wide range of content, including intranet stories, FAQs, PowerPoint presentations, and how-to documentation.
- Conduct research and create content for various CSPS focus areas.
- Edit and refine copy to align with AP and Peraton style guidelines.
- Simplify complex technical concepts into clear, accessible language for diverse audiences.
- Work closely with internal teams to align messaging and ensure cohesive promotions across key initiatives.
- Support and contribute to the planning and execution of events, offsites, town halls, employee engagement activities, and graphic design projects.
- Create compelling social media content to strengthen brand visibility and foster audience engagement.
- Assist with the development and execution of marketing campaigns.
- Manage and contribute content across SharePoint and Teams platforms to ensure easy access and collaboration.
- Proactively suggest process improvements and innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and communication.
- Effectively manage multiple projects and meet deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards and attention to detail.
- Foster a positive, collaborative team environment, with the ability to work in a hybrid setting (ideally at least two days per week in the Reston Town Center office).
Qualifications
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, or a related field and 0 years of experience; or a high school diploma with 4+ years of relevant publishing experience.
- At least two years of professional experience in communications, content creation, or a similar role.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, concise, and engaging content.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
- Advanced proofreading and editing skills, with a keen eye for accuracy and consistency.Solid understanding of style guidelines and branding principles.
- Hands-on experience with social media platforms, including LinkedIn, to drive engagement and brand awareness.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within diverse teams of varying sizes, backgrounds, and expertise, across multiple locations.
- Highly adaptable, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and navigate shifting priorities effectively.
- Excellent organizational skills, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
- Deadline-driven, consistently meeting or exceeding expectations while managing competing demands.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong willingness and ability to learn and master new software and tools as needed.
- Receptive to feedback, with a positive attitude toward learning and continuous improvement.
Preferred Skills:
- Proficiency in graphic design and layout, with the ability to create visually appealing and on-brand materials.
- Strong experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or other graphic design software to produce high-quality visual content.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Forms, with the ability to design and manage forms for data collection and reporting purposes.

Target Salary Range
$51,000 - $82,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
