Job Description
As a Senior Military Analyst, Joint Staff with AMERICAN SYSTEMS, you will have an opportunity to do the following:
- Candidates will draw on military experience gained from serving as senior officers to synthesize national strategic documents (National Military Strategy, National Defense Strategy, etc.) and understand how these documents guide strategic and operational plans.
- Candidates will lead the design, plan, and strategic approach of each CSA assessment.
- Candidates will use research, analytical and writing skills to develop technical reports/briefings, studies, and related documents, many of which will be viewed by senior DoD leadership.
- Candidates will use advanced people skills to coordinate meetings and interviews and to negotiate resolution of differences between OSD, Joint Staff, Combatant Commands, Military Services and Combat Support Agencies.
- Candidates will travel to Combatant Commands and other components to conduct interviews.
Job Requirements
- Current Top Secret (TS) Clearance with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the last 5 years.
- BA/BS degree with completion of Joint Professional Military Education Program and a minimum of eight (8) years of experience
- Must have superior research, analytical and writing abilities to be able to interpret, synthesize, and present results and recommendations via detailed written reports to senior military and civilian decision makers.
- Must have the skills to review, analyze, comment upon, and draft specific written recommendations for the SARAO position on planning, doctrine, and policy documents associated with the Joint Strategic Planning System (JSPS) that may contain CSART related equities. Documents to be reviewed may include, but are not limited to, the Quadrennial Defense Review, Defense Planning Guidance, Guidance for Development and Employment of the Force, Joint Strategic Capabilities Plan, DoD Directives and Instructions and CJCS Instructions and Manuals.
- Must be able to monitor the progress made by the CSA, Joint Staff, combatant commands, or other staff agencies and Services in resolving issues and implementing recommendations made in previous CSART assessments. The Contractor shall initiate actions to obtain the updated status on each recommendation.
- Must be able to conduct interviews, usually by travel to the appropriate combatant commands, CSAs, Services or subordinate commands with appropriate staff, using prepared interview protocol.
- Must be ready to travel to CONUS/OCONUS in support of CSART interviews at the Combatant Command and Service components as necessary.
- Prefer 15 years military experience with a working knowledge of the Joint Force (military doctrine, planning and operational employment of forces and combat service support) as demonstrated by education and/or experience.
- Staff experience at the OSD or Joint Staff level is preferred. Experience working with/for the Defense Logistics Agency and the Defense Contract Management Agency is highly desired. Familiarity with other Combat Support Agencies is also a plus.
- Must be capable of leading and managing interdisciplinary assessment teams.

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary/hourly range for this position is $127,000 to $165,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
