Job Description

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer with AMERICAN SYSTEMS, you will have an opportunity to do the following:



  • Support government programs and build your mechanical engineering experience
  • Develop a variety of mechanical design skills including Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and solid modeling.
  • Use Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to develop armament designs
  • Produce models, drawings and design documents using PT-CREO
  • Create test plans and inspect drawings
  • Communicate with vendors and test ranges to ensure design and test intent is met.
  • Travel to witness and oversee armament testing.
  • Represent our organization at project team meetings.
  • Reduce test data and tabulate results into quick reference documents.
  • Create reports that document the outcomes of test events and summarize programs to management.

Job Requirements

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree from 4 year accredited school and minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET Clearance
  • MUST be a US Citizen
  • Ability to travel to up to 10% of the time
  • Ability and willingness to learn new software design programs


At least 2+ years experience in:



  • PTC CREO or another Computer Aided Engineering (CAD) software package for solid modeling

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary/hourly range for this position is $120,000 to $140,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
