Dialysis Assistant - Macomb Regional Dialysis Center - 40 Hours Week

Our dialysis center is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Dialysis Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will contribute to efficient dialysis unit operations by performing stocking and custodial duties.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

Macomb Home Dialysis is a unit attached to an outpatient dialysis facility. The facility oversees peritoneal and home dialysis patients. Census is 20 PD patients.

Staffed with full-time Nephrologists. In addition, we have full-time and part-time Home Nurses and travel pool home dialysis technicians. In addition, the unit has multiple support staff members that are shared with the outpatient clinic including front desk team and tech leader staff (machine maintenance) that may assist with operational duties within the clinic.

We case manage 20 pts who are monitored by connected health for Baxter and NxStage systems. Patients are trained to perform dialysis treatments at home within the clinic. PD training takes 7-10 days and HHD training takes 4-6 weeks. The home team schedules monthly clinic visits for all home patients with the interdisciplinary team and lab draws for PD patients. Our team provides pt education as well as referrals to transplant services for sites the pt requests to be referred to.

The unit is typically open Monday through Friday 8am to 430pm for pt care hours with some flexibility based on the clinic's needs. Home Nurses are scheduled to take daily after hour on-call including weekends. The home clinic is closed most weekends and holidays depending on the clinic's needs (training or clinical need for a patient).

GENERAL SUMMARY:



  • Properly clean patient equipment and tear down machines.
  • Maintains storage of supplies and equipment.
  • Follows standard precautions and infection control policies and procedures for dialysis setting, including OSHA regulations and MSDS information sheets.
  • Treats patients and families with respect, dignity and compassion.
  • Maintains neat clean and safe work area, which includes ancillary equipment. Responsible for helping minimize waste in assigned unit. Understands Lean principles.
  • Prepares blood samples for shipment.
  • Assists clinical staff as needed in treatment area, (e.g. holding needle sites, transporting, assisting with weighing, etc).

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:



  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
