Job Summary & Responsibilities Loan Management is a business unit within the Global Banking & Markets division primarily supporting the Mortgage Loan Trading and Structured Finance desks. The team is a multi-faceted diligence and asset management platform specializing in whole loan acquisition, sales, securitizations, and financing opportunities. The Loan Management team has product expertise in residential and commercial mortgages, consumer loans, and real estate and warehouse financing. The Whole Loan Execution Group (WLEG) within Loan Management is seeking a Collateral Transaction Manager. This position is responsible for managing and overseeing all collateral trade related functions and reviewing mortgage documentation for accuracy and completeness for residential whole loan acquisitions, securitizations, and sales as well as financing opportunities and in an advisory capacity. WLEG works closely with trading desk, internal and external counsels, counterparties, clients, and vendors to ensure collateral risks are identified and mitigated and that all contractual and timing obligations are met. Responsibilities:
- Initiate, coordinate, and manage all collateral trade related functions and requirements by collaborating with internal departments, internal and external stakeholders, clients, and vendors
- Establish and maintain strong collaborative relationships with clients, investors, and vendors
- Manage/Oversee daily vendor and internal diligence processes and progress
- Work with contract management, legal, and vendor(s) to finalize and implement SOWs and contract updates as required
- Prepare and present scope, budget, and timeline expectations/SLAs
- Coordinate and support file shipments for active trade processes
- Conduct vendor trade diligence performance reviews based on scope including managing vendor KPI and SLA requirements
- Identify and work with vendor and internal partners to implement process improvement action plans
- Review, analyze, and risk grade discrepancies and collateral deficiencies identified in vendor reviews and/or escalations
- Communicate summaries, trade updates, and escalations to internal and external parties as applicable
- Manage collateral review transaction timelines with internal and external parties to ensure timely settlement and completion of custodial reviews within service level standards.
- Coordinate with internal and external parties to cure document deficiencies during acquisitions
- Escalate adverse findings and potential loan drops to the internal transaction team
- Coordinate collateral closing documentation requirements with vendor, clients, and Deal Management
- Create and distribute final closing summary post-settlement to internal partners
- Handle and manage final transition of trade to post-settlement team
- Provide advisory or underwriting support by reviewing various custodial reports for GS Bank or other areas of GS as requested
- Ensure departmental and corporate guidelines are followed, and objectives are achieved
- Excel in a team-oriented, collaborative environment by actively contributing to the development and execution of processes and system enhancements
- Collaborate with the Residential Warehouse and Residential Structured Finance (RSF) Banking teams on advisory and sponsor deal securitizations to provide analytical support and guidance
Requirements:
- Minimum 2-5 years of US mortgage document management and/or document custodial experience, with an emphasis in collateral requirements for whole loan and GSE sales/purchases
- Independent thinker who will be proactive, assertive, and professional in dealing with internal/external customers, third-party vendor partners, other internal departments and senior managers
- Capable of recommending modifications to existing policies/procedures to control risk and improve performance/efficiencies
- Strong self-confidence, good judgment, and sound decision making and problem-solving skills
- Exhibit a motivated and positive mindset with a strong ability to collaborate in a team environment
- Trade diligence with document review/audit, and risk analysis experience
- Vendor oversight experience
- Data management, analysis, and reporting experience
- Ability to handle fast-paced environment with minimum supervision; successfully meet established project requirements and deadlines
- Demonstrate ability to navigate complex internal and external interactions with diplomacy, while maintaining a comprehensive understanding perspective from various stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and multi-task
- Outstanding initiative and excellent communication/presentation skills (both verbal and written)
- Possess strong organizational and detail-oriented skills
- Advanced proficiencies in MS Excel
- Must have flexibility to work extended hours (and occasional weekends) if needed
