The Loan Management group is a business unit within the Global Banking and Markets (GBM) division, primarily supporting the Mortgage Loan Trading and Structured Finance desks. The group is a multi-faceted diligence and asset management platform specializing in whole loan acquisition, sales, securitizations, and financing opportunities. The Loan Management team has product expertise across mortgages, consumer loans, real estate and warehouse financing.

The New Origination team provides due diligence, quality control, transaction management to support acquisitions and dispositions of newly originated conduit loans (bulk & flow). The Transaction Management Associate will support the team to ensure corporate underwriting guidelines are followed, and help support the firm's ultimate trade decision on bulk and flow acquisitions in the secondary market.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Loan Management is seeking an Associate that will assist Transaction Managers in facilitating due diligence (at both the deal and asset levels) of residential whole loan acquisitions, sales and securitizations of residential loan portfolios. The Analyst will ensure all assets are diligence in accordance with the scope of the transaction closing requirements, and adherence to departmental, divisional and Firmwide policies.

Responsibilities include:



  • Collaborate with Transaction Manager(s), Trading Desks to finalize the due diligence scopes and timelines (inclusive of coordinating with Sellers, preparing data files and diligence materials for third-party vendor partners)
  • Liaison between mortgage originators, GS mortgage trading desk, and GS banking team. Ensuring all parties needs are met and managing constant communication between counterparties
  • Support due diligence transactions (e.g., credit underwriting, data integrity, collateral, origination regulatory compliance, etc.); to ensure due diligence meets agreed upon timelines
  • Collaborate with internal diligence teams to obtain third-party vendor partner bids; Statement of Works (SOW) and engage/monitor third-party vendor partners
  • Work closely with the internal diligence teams to identify and document loan level conditions/exceptions; assist with determining resolutions/potential cures
  • Assist to maintain accurate reporting of loan level conditions, exceptions and data reconciliation to maintain data integrity
  • Support tie-out of final diligence processes, applicable checklist(s) and deal expenses and ensure all final settlement activities/data are accurately uploaded to internal databases
  • May assist with performing comparative (gap) analyses on underwriting guidelines and counterparty's reps and warranties
  • Assist in updating departmental procedures and process documentation



Qualifications



  • Minimum 3 year in residential mortgage loan industry, with a familiarity of various mortgage products pertaining to residential mortgage assets
  • Possess excellent time management and organizational skills with a keen eye toward attention to detail
  • Must have ability to function in a fast-paced environment, manage deadlines with minimum supervision
  • Ability to organize, analyze and interpret legal and compliance related materials
  • Strong communicator with good judgment, and sound problem-solving skills
  • Advanced proficiencies in MS Excel
  • SQL proficiency, Tableau, Python a plus
  • Outstanding initiative, excellent communication and presentation skills (both verbal and written) to manage internal/external relationships
  • Experience in coordinating internal/external clients, third-party vendor partners, other departmental and divisional teams, and senior managers
  • Capital Markets experience a plus
