Physics

The Physics Department at Missouri S&T is seeking candidates to fill the position of Academic Specialist. The purpose of this position is to provide a variety of support related to the instruction of introductory physics courses and teaching laboratories, as well as support for the department's outreach activities.

Key responsibilities include:

• teaching recitations for the introductory physics courses (Physics 1135 and 2135) as required by the department
• serving as lab coordinator for the introductory physics labs accompanying Physics 1135, 1145, 2135, and 2145; this includes supervising graduate teaching assistants
• assisting Dr. Fischer and Dr. Kim in the advanced lab classes Physics 3119 and 3129
• serving as lead instructor of the Physics 1135 summer class
• supporting outreach activities to K-12 students and the public

Required Qualifications:

• MS degree in physics or related field
• experience teaching introductory physics, including laboratories

Preferred Qualifications:

• experience with outreach to K-12 students and the public
• ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds
