What you will do:



  • Oversee the production operations at the Nutrien-Marseilles Plant
  • Ensure that production goals are achieved consistent with safety, quality, cost and environmental standards
  • Cross-train with the Process Equipment Operator Helper, Process Equipment Operator, and Senior Laboratory Technician
  • Ensure proper job performance of Process Equipment Operator, Process Equipment Operator Helper, and Senior Laboratory Technician
  • Perform other duties as assigned in production, maintenance, and administration
  • Adhere to plant safety program and environmental program administration
  • Ensure proper adherence to safety policies and rules
  • Manage daily production operations, general and routine plant functions
  • Assist in daily production goals
  • Communicate schedule requirements and instructions to operators, ensure process orders specifying operating parameters are followed, monitor production rates as schedules, monitor quality results meet specifications, and initiate corrective action as necessary
  • Monitor shipping performance; monitor quality results meet specifications and initiate corrective action, as necessary
  • Oversee close control of raw material usage, labor costs, product yields, operating supplies, and overall productivity
  • Conduct frequent housekeeping and safety inspections
  • Assure adherence to preventative maintenance programs
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures and systems consistent with safety, quality, cost, and environmental standards
  • Review and participate in accident/injury investigation and corrective action
  • Keep supervisor logbook current
  • Perform personnel administration functions
  • Prepare internal and external reports, as assigned
  • Coordinate maintenance work with Maintenance Supervisor
  • Load bag and bulk on incoming trucks to DOT standards--weigh in, complete the bill of lading, spot and inspect truck, sample product, weigh out
  • Unload materials from incoming trucks and verifying the contents to the manifest
  • Responsible for all aspects of loading hopper cars
  • Assist in switching railcars
  • Assist in bagging product
  • Responsible for all aspects of unloading phosphate acid tank cars following plant safety procedures
  • Responsible for all spill clean-ups
  • Control phosphoric acid concentration to required P2O5 strength
  • Work as team to conduct acid tank car switching and spotting procedures
  • Spot and unload limestone trucks following safety and plant procedures
  • Respond to emergencies in accordance with plant policies and procedures
  • Troubleshoot electronic and mechanical equipment
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of the Animal Food Quality and Safety Management System, as needed
  • Ensure an environment is maintained in which employees are responsible for reporting quality and animal food safety problems, when detected, to personnel with authority
  • Ensure all employees' training is documented and employees are trained on animal food quality and safety requirements and demonstrate required competencies for job tasks
  • Participate in Animal Food Quality and Safety Management Review meetings
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 60 lbs
  • Must also be able to take part in respiratory and hearing testing annually and wear a respirator
  • Ability to climb stairs continually during shift
  • Ability to climb/work from ladders



What you will bring:



  • Knowledge of Animal Food Quality and Safety Policy, Animal Food Safety Awareness, and HACCP, Preferred
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent, Required
  • Experience as a Process Equipment Operator, fill in Supervisor is preferred
  • Five or more years' work experience in a related field such as Mining, Manufuring or Production.
  • Previous supervisory experience, Preferred
