What you'll do

Docusign is seeking a skilled and adaptable Product Counsel with a strong foundation in transactional and/or SaaS product counseling to join our dynamic Product Legal team. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge legal challenges at the intersection of technology and innovation, focusing on our identity verification and notary product offerings, as well as partner integrations with resellers, Independent Software Vendors (ISVs), and Trust Service Providers (TSPs). The ideal candidate will have experience as a SaaS product counsel or extensive commercial contracting expertise, coupled with an eagerness to transition into or deepen their product counseling experience. As a key contributor, you will play a vital role in shaping legal strategies, supporting the development of intelligent agreement management solutions, and ensuring compliance with evolving regulatory frameworks. This is a unique chance to collaborate cross-functionally, influence the future of legal technology, and develop innovative solutions that empower organizations worldwide.

This position is an individual contributor role reporting to the Legal Director and Associate General Counsel of Product & Partnerships.

Responsibility

  • Collaborate with diverse teams to create scalable, legally compliant solutions tailored to customer and partner ecosystems, including resellers and ISVs
  • Work closely with internal teams to design and implement solutions that address the complex needs of resellers, ISVs, and enterprise partners
  • Build expertise to become subject matter expert on Docusign's identity verification, data verification, trusted service providers for digital signatures and emerging identity and fraud solutions
  • Assist in supporting innovation and integration of AI technology into Docusign's IAM platform to deliver enhanced solutions powered by IAM

Job Designation

Remote: Employee is not required to be in or near an office frequently and works from a designated remote work location for the majority of the time.

Positions at Docusign are assigned a job designation of either In Office, Hybrid or Remote and are specific to the role/job. Preferred job designations are not guaranteed when changing positions within Docusign. Docusign reserves the right to change a position's job designation depending on business needs and as permitted by local law.


What you bring

Basic

  • 8+ years of relevant experience as a practicing attorney
  • Experience as a product counsel for a SaaS company supporting product and technology teams on developing new products and services, with data governance and modern technology stack experience; OR experience in commercial contracting across multiple industries with strong experience in contract lifecycle management and a desire to extend into product counseling
  • Admitted to practice and in good standing with a U.S. state bar (or eligible for in-house counsel registration in California or Washington)

Preferred

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively convey complex legal concepts
  • Demonstrated interest in legal technology and its potential to transform industries
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and contribute to informed decisions
  • Experience in contract templatization, automation, and theory across various industries
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, managing multiple projects in a fast-paced setting
  • Willingness to learn and grow under the guidance of the Associate General Counsel for Product

Wage Transparency

Pay for this position is based on a number of factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Based on applicable legislation, the below details pay ranges in the following locations:

California: $151,800.00 - $245,150.00 base salary

Illinois and Colorado: $145,800.00 - $205,950.00 base salary

Washington, New Jersey and New York (including NYC metro area): $145,800.00 - $214,350.00 base salary

Washington DC: $151,800.00 - $214,350.00 base salary

This role is also eligible for the following:

  • Bonus: Sales personnel are eligible for variable incentive pay dependent on their achievement of pre-established sales goals. Non-Sales roles are eligible for a company bonus plan, which is calculated as a percentage of eligible wages and dependent on company performance.
  • Stock: This role is eligible to receive Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
