Summary:
Provides support to the company with tool construction, repairs, maintenance and calibration for a CNC Machine Shop.

Responsibilities:
*Use sketches, blueprints, specifications and models to plan operations for the fabrication of tools, ensuring safety and maximum efficiency.
*Study specification plans and blueprints to determine proper assembly, alignment and calibration of machines.
*Verify dimensions of finished parts to ensure they conform to specifications using dial indicators, gauge blocks, calipers and micrometers.
*Utilize hand and machine tools to assemble parts of tools and dies and to repair and modify gauges and jigs. File and grind and adjust parts as needed.
*Design templates and jigs to be used as work aids for convenient fabrication of products and parts.
*Diagnose and troubleshoot problems and perform repairs on a variety of tools and jigs.
*Interface with external and internal customers, and work with team members to solve problems during the production process as well as new tooling design.
*Select the appropriate metals and materials to be used based on properties, ensuring they meet project specifications.
*Follow company safety and production regulations.

  • Jig grinders
  • Saws
  • Plate layout
  • Tool re-grinding and re-sharpening
  • CAD
  • Strong Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Ability to work with production and engineering teams
  • Good hand-eye coordination
  • Attention to detail
  • Willingness to share knowledge with others
  • Excellent technical skills, with the ability to problem solve and troubleshoot mechanical problems
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Understanding of Lean principles and practices a plus
  • Basic CNC programming knowledge a plus
  • Experience with aerospace requirement a plus
  • 10+ years of Tool Making experience

Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent
