NRDC is a non-profit environmental advocacy organization. NRDC is seeking a Membership Gift Officer work with the Development team in our San Francisco or Santa Monica offices.

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Associate Director of Mid-Level Giving, the Membership Gift Officer will develop a portfolio of mid-level donors in the greater Western region of the United States whose gifts range from $1,000 to over $25,000 dollars annually, through personal visits, and regular phone and email contact. This position will cultivate relationships with people in this giving segment to move them into larger commitments by providing personalized attention, appreciation, and information on programs of their interest. The primary focus will be stewarding and upgrading donors in the Membership Mid-level Circle, as well as identifying prospects for major and planned giving. This position is based out of our Santa Monica or San Francisco office.

The position you are applying for is part of the bargaining unit represented by The Washington Baltimore News Guild (WBNG / The Newsguild-CWA Local 32035).



Responsibilities

    Manage a dynamic portfolio of mid-level donors inthe Westto cultivate to higher giving levels
  • Develop personalized relationships with key mid-level donors to help them accomplish their philanthropic goals and ambitions in person and via phone and email
  • Collaborate closely with Membership Mid-level team, Major Gifts, Planned Giving and other Development teams to ensure best communication and service to upgrade prospects
  • Work with Moves Management team to identify and target prospecting process for Major Gifts
  • Develop and implement moves management strategies and timelines for the cultivation and stewardship of mid-level donors
  • Coordinate small donor gatherings with potential prospects in the region
  • Use systems and software to track and cultivate donors and prospects
  • Track and report progress using specific metrics
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum of 4 years fundraising or related experience
  • Enthusiastic, outgoing, and can handle simultaneous, ongoing projects
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Collaborative and inclusive approach to intra departmental work.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Creative problem-solving skills to engage and cultivate relationships with donors along the pipeline
  • Keen interest in people and a desire to significantly increase income from a select segment of the mid-level giving program
  • Efficient multi-tasker and flexible in working towards philanthropy goals
  • Working knowledge of computer databases and Microsoft Office is required
  • Keen interest in nature and the environment is preferred
  • Some travel may be required

We offer competitive salaries, excellent benefits, and a supportive working environment. Salary is based on a nonprofit scale and is commensurate with skills and experience. Internal equity will be reviewed and considered to determine a final offer. For this position, the salary range is $100,000 to $110,000.

NRDC operates under a hybrid work model. Employees are required to come to the office 8 days per month. We offer NRDCers flexibility, and we ask them to come into the office and spend meaningful time there in collaboration with their colleagues. We call this purposeful presence.
