Job Summary:

The Office of Data, Academic Planning & Institutional Research (DAPIR) is seeking an Institutional Academic Planner. This position will report to the Associate Vice Provost of Academic Planning and will play a pivotal role in advancing the academic mission of the university through strategic planning and collaboration with academic units across campus.

Responsibilities of this position include:
- Working with faculty and staff to develop proposals to standards appropriate for approval and implementation. This includes understanding state and federal law, accreditation requirements, campus standards and policies.
- Coordinating creation of agendas for governance meetings. Taking meeting minutes. Onboarding new committee members. Maintaining records and producing committee reports.
- Contributing to the maintenance of the Lumen/Guide system including development and curation of procedures and functionality documentation, troubleshooting end user problems, submitting and monitoring help tickets, assisting with training, participating in the development of new functionality.
- Developing and implementing academic policies and procedures in accordance with institutional guidelines and best practices
- Maintaining the university academic structure, advise on and advocate for its consistent use in campus data systems and repositories.

Education:

Preferred
Master's Degree or other graduate or professional degree is preferred. A Bachelor's degree plus substantial experience will be considered in lieu of a graduate degree.

Qualifications:

REQUIRED:
- At least one year working in higher education in a position that supports the academic mission
- Skilled at trouble-shooting and problem-solving in the context of multi-step processes that take place in human and digital contexts
- Direct or transferable experience applying policy and standards in a variety of settings, with a strong understanding of the goal of the policy and standards, and appropriate flexibility in application
- Excellent organizational skills, strong interpersonal skills and teamwork skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to work independently as well as cooperatively within established and ad hoc teams, ability to advance projects and initiatives, attention to detail
- Aptitude for systems thinking, accuracy and attention to detailed work and ability to integrate to "big picture" thinking

PREFERRED:
- Knowledge of the student career cycle and student experience, factors associated with student academic success and progress to degree, and the student information system
- Familiarity with the academic structure of UW-Madison (or a similar institution)
- Knowledge of curricular and academic program policy and planning and program review experience developing proposals for academic programs or courses


Work Type:

Full Time: 100%

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
