Description

GENERAL FUNCTIONS:

The YMCA of Greater Waukesha County is seeking a highly motivated individual that has a passion for leading Group Exercise programs. Under the direction of the Fitness Director, the Group Exercise Coordinator will be responsible for evaluating the quality of group exercise classes, coordinating, and filling class schedules, teaching multiple class formats, monitoring class attendance, and enhancing member relations. This is a part time positionwhich may include nights and weekends.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  1. Assist Fitness Director with development and coordination of group exercise schedule.
  2. Assist Fitness Director in the selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of group exercise instructors.
  3. Coordinate the monthly group exercise schedule and evaluate on an ongoing basis.
  4. Ensure group exercise classes have a trained, qualified instructor. Fill in as a substitute instructor when necessary.
  5. Lead group exercise classes as directed.
  6. Maintain participation records/tracking for all group exercise classes.
  7. Serve as the point person for group exercise instructor and member concerns.
  8. Create a welcoming atmosphere for all members which results in relationship building and increased group exercise enrollments and member retention.
  9. Foster professional relationships among group exercise instructors and members.
  10. Attend, assist, and lead staff meetings as required by Fitness Director.
  11. Understand and implement YMCA Group Exercise Program objectives.
  12. Communicate effectively and efficiently with emails and other forms of communication.
  13. Follow all Y policies, rules, and regulations, including emergency and safety procedures.
  14. Attend additional trainings as needed.
  15. Protect health, safety, and welfare of all participants by keeping group exercise areas safe.
  16. Act as a positive role model using the YMCAs core values of honesty, caring, respect and responsibility.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:



  1. High School Diploma or equivalent, and at least 21 years old.
  2. Minimum of 2 -4 years of fitness experience including teaching group exercise classes.
  3. A Nationally recognized certification in Group Exercise or specialty area(s) (i.e., Group Exercise Certification, Cycling, Yoga, etc.) is required.
  4. Current First Aid/AED/CPR Certifications required (must be obtained within 30 days of employment.)
  5. Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
  6. Must have excellent communication and people skills.
