Position Summary:

Directly supervise Cycle Counters and Production Controllers. Monitor inventory activity, including variances, scrap and rework. Assist Finance Manager in accounting and analysis functions of the manufacturing operation. Provide insight to management on problem areas pertaining to usage variances and destroyed product. Ensure production reporting is completed and reconciled timely.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Directly supervise activities of all cycle counters, rebox technician, production controllers, and leads. Includes performing annual reviews and disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Responsible for timely preparation of month end accruals for both inventory and non-inventory items and the accurate recording of journal entries through the AS400 system.
  • Preparation of daily, weekly, monthly operating reports. Record and summarize inventory variances and scrap to Finance Manager and other members of management. Analyze reasons for cycle adjustments and their relationship with Bill of Materials.
  • Monitor and maintain AS400 inventories for location 60 and any 3PL locations.
  • Research obsolete/aged inventory and follow through with proper disposal, including the arrangement of product donations and the preparation of charge backs if applicable. Track credits due from vendors.
  • Provide backup for the MSS Administrator Position and Production Controllers as needed.
  • Coordinate, prepare and supervise all physical inventories, including base stock inventory and label inventory.
  • Prepare miscellaneous accounting analysis reports as required. Perform special projects as directed by the Finance Manager. Other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for assuring compliance with all Food Safety policies, procedures and regulatory criterion including the current SQF code, Good Manufacturing Practices, and the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and associated Preventative Controls.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.
  • 3 to 5 years experience in inventory / materials management.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Self starter with multi-tasking skills are essential.
  • Accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and problem solving skills important for analysis functions.
  • Oral and written communication skills are important.
  • Proficiency in Excel, AS400 and Outlook.

*The "base salary range" provided above is a good faith estimate of what we expect to pay for this position. The range provided is for California-based employees as Ventura Foods is required by California State Law to post pay rates. Ventura Foods reserves the right to pay outside of the given range based on a variety of factors including but not limited to: candidate skills and experience, complexity of the job, budgetary factors, and location/geography. Ventura Foods conducts regular reviews of compensation ranges and therefore reserves the right to alter this range at any given time.

Physical Demands:
Regularly requires intermittent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.Physical strength and dexterity sufficient to perform the required task(s). Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more with assistance.Additional demands may be required.

Work Environment:
In addition to normal business hours, work schedules may include after hours and weekends as needed. May work outside and in adverse temperatures which include extreme hot, cold, and humidity.May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. Must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment as required by established Company Safety standards.May require work in confined and dark spaces, and at heights in excess of 18 feet for prolonged periods of time.
