Geosyntec is looking for a Senior Principal Civil or Geological Engineer with at least fifteen years of experience to join our Engineering Consulting practice in our Springfield, MO office. Apply your engineering or geology skills to projects involving landfills, transfer stations, surface impoundments, geologic and hydrogeologic investigations, solid waste planning, and other solid waste management systems while further developing the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Business development, program and project management, and technical lead for mining projects related to mine impacted water treatment, hydrology and water management, reclamation and closure planning, sustainability, containment technologies, and regulatory permitting/compliance solutions
  • Maintaining high visibility in the marketplace through regular client contact, participation in client-based professional organizations, and attendance and presentations at industry events
  • Identifying and developing successful client relationships and new business development opportunities on a local, regional, or national basis
  • Managing programs, projects and staff, including providing technical leadership and oversight, risk management, and mentoring
  • Landfill engineering design, including liner and final cover system design, landfill gas system design, site closure and financial assurance
  • Coal combustion residual closure design, permitting, and planning
  • Civil design, transfer station design, stormwater design, and site layout
  • Engineering analyses such as slope stability, hydrologic and landfill gas modeling, seismic, and seepage
  • Project/task management and proposal preparation support
  • Understanding of local, state and federal regulations related to solid waste
  • Preparation of permit applications, design calculations, drawings, technical specifications, and permit applications
  • Fieldwork associated with investigation, design and construction services


Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in civil, structural, or geotechnical engineering. (required)
  • Advanced degree in the same. (required)
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in the U.S. (Required)


Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 15 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in solid waste engineering practices. (required)
  • Thorough knowledge and experience with local regulations, and good relationships with regulators. (required)
  • Regional visibility through involvement in professional associations or trade organizations. (preferred)
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
