Empath Health is currently seeking a volunteer onboarding coordinator to join our team!

The Onboarding Coordinator has primary responsibility for customer centered volunteer intake and training registration. Additional responsibilities include recruiting, educating, and supporting volunteers to ensure compliance and for meeting the volunteer needs of patients, families and the organization.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Leads volunteers from inquiry to active volunteer status
  • Responds to all volunteer inquiries regarding volunteer opportunities and volunteer training, and if needed, advises supervisor of potential volunteer concerns.
  • Screen and interview potential volunteers; schedule for orientations, verify all paperwork
  • Performs Level 1 background screenings and MVR screenings as needed on incoming volunteers
  • Expand the organization's volunteer program, including the recruitment, training, placement, and support of volunteers, in collaboration with Volunteer Services Leadership.
  • Educate, monitor and ensure that volunteers are in compliance with the organization's policies and procedures, and uphold compliance standards prior to beginning their volunteer role. Ensures compliance with regulatory and certifying bodies (Medicare, AHCA, Joint Commission) within team.
  • Maintain documentation related to volunteer information, assignments and activities.
  • Actively participate in meetings with Volunteer Services and leaders.
  • Provide education to team staff on the value and role of volunteers and on working effectively with volunteers.
  • Maintain professional boundaries.
  • Successfully complete annual education, competency demonstration and other required education on a timely basis.
  • Evening or weekend hours may be required as well as travel throughout the service area.
  • Other duties as required by supervisor or department as the volunteer program grows and changes.

    Qualifications/Requirements:

    • Education and/or Experience: 4-year college degree preferred; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Experience as a volunteer coordinator preferred.
    • Intermediate computer skills required, experience with Volgistics and EMR software preferred.
    • Organizational skills, flexibility and the ability to manage multiple tasks required.
    • Public speaking/presentation/training facilitation experience preferred.
    • Internal and external customer service oriented.
    • Previous experience in a health care or non-profit agency preferred.
    • Should have excellent organizational, attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
    • Ability to organize and manage tasks effectively, meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
    • Ability to work as a team player and independently, as needed.
    • Must have reliable transportation to perform tasks and responsibilities in a timely and appropriate fashion.
    • Must be able to provide proof of automobile insurance, a copy will be placed in their employee file.
