Nurse Assistant - Med/Surg - Intensive Care Unit - (36 Hours) - Days- Wyandotte

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under the direction and supervision of the responsible Registered Nurse (RN), performs specific patient care duties to meet the safety and comfort needs of the patient. Provides input to assist the RN in planning and implementing patient care. Responds to emergent situations according to established procedures. Recognizes and participates in own continuing education. The Nurse Assistant follows the Henry Ford Health System Team Member Standards of Excellence in all interactions.

These duties may include but are not limited to:

• Blood draws
• Vitals
• Performs venipuncture and chemsticks
• Team roundings
• Identifies concerns related to patients, staff, and self, and communicates with the responsible RN

Unit Description

Intensive Care Unit- is an 18-bed mixed medical-surgical intensive care unit. The population consists of patients with multiple and complex medical diagnoses including but not limited to DKA, Respiratory Failure, Post-Cardiac Arrest, post-cardiac catheterization with interventions, sepsis, stroke/tPA, surgical procedures requiring q1h monitoring or lifesaving interventions. Our nurses are trained in caring for patients with balloon-pumps and Impella devices. RN utilize the hypothermic protocol in post-arrest patients. It is a great place to grow your knowledge and clinical skills. The RN staff will attend the Critical Care orientation class. ACLS certification is mandatory within ONE YEAR of employment. One year Medical-Surgical GPU experience is required.
