Overview
The Regulatory Compliance Specialist shall be responsible for executing the day-to-day operations of an effective regulatory compliance program on behalf of the organization. This will include but not be limited to evaluation of internal and vendor business partner compliance, communication of findings and observations to the Chief Compliance Officer and other business partners, assisting with the tracking and monitoring of corrective action plans, contribution to the risk-based monitoring and audit workplan, and validation of key internal and vendor compliance measures and activities. This position will work with the various operational departments of Independent Health, business partners, and vendors.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required. Associates degree preferred.
- Three (3) years of compliance, legal, quality assurance/audit, vendor management, or healthcare operations required.
- High proficiency in Windows, Word, Excel and Access.
- Proficiency in performing work that requires knowledge of compliance and/or legal concepts, with emphasis on corporate, business law, or compliance as well as other areas of general practice.
- Excellent analytical skills, ability to analyze data and components of legislation, policies and procedures based upon regulatory requirements.
- Excellent composition and drafting skills, with emphasis on various compliance/regulatory documents and correspondence.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Possess initiative, creativity, project management and organizational abilities.

Essential Accountabilities
Coordination of Regulatory Compliance Program Implementation
- Assist with the communication of compliance program requirements and regulatory communications to internal departments and vendors.
- Work cross-functionally with vendor business owners and other support functions across the organization such as Legal, Vendor Management, Internal Audit, and the Information Risk Office as required. Collaborate to update the risk-based monitoring and audit workplan at least annually.
Documentation and Reporting of Compliance
- Research, develop and provide compliance documentation and response as required for new laws, rules and regulations impacting vendors, cataloging documentation related to compliance and regulatory oversight.
- Work with operational departments, vendor business owners, and the regulatory compliance managers, to update all compliance implementation plans and subsequently monitor their completion.
Investigation, Response & Prevention
- Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk as it relates to regulatory changes and/or current operational issues; escalate and report on identified risks and assist in developing solutions to mitigate risks as necessary.
- Facilitate prompt response to detected offenses, assisting operational departments and vendor business owners in the development of corrective action plans as necessary and ensuring corrective actions have been effective in preventing conditions from reoccurrence.
- Conduct monitoring activities to ensure compliance with regulatory and reporting requirements.
- Evaluate vendor and internal monitoring and audit reports, developing validation plan to ensure accuracy of information reported to the Compliance Committee.
- Support other cross-functional validation activities in collaboration with manager, vendor business owners, and Internal Audit.
Other
- May be responsible for facilitating, reviewing and submission of external regulatory audit requests as needed. Act as a liaison for the Compliance Department and Independent Health with external regulatory contacts as required.
- Support Independent Health in the preparation for, coordination and facilitation of internal and external audit requests related to regulatory compliance. Assist in preparing, planning and facilitating audit activities. This will include but is not limited to meeting coordination, document preparation and review, and onsite audit implementation (for external auditors).

Hiring Compensation Range: $62,500 - $72,500 annually Compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to skills, education, location and experience. In addition to base compensation, associates may be eligible for a scorecard incentive, full range of benefits and generous paid time off. The base salary range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
