Northeast Foods Inc. is one of the largest suppliers of buns, rolls and bread products in the United States, and a Supplier of Choice for numerous restaurants in the country. Based in Baltimore, MD., we are part of a network of 10 bakeries and multiple distribution centers along the East Coast, all committed to one thing: producing the best quality bread products possible.

Summary:

The Operations Manager oversees the overall manufacturing process to ensure optimized production. This role supports the initiatives of the Plant Manager and operates as the immediate resource in the management structure of the bakery. The over-arching expectation is to create synergy between all departments to create an environment of excellence and progression.



Role & Responsibilities:

* Ensure all operational information is communicated to the leadership team timely and within scope.
* Oversee the management of Human Capital to ensure proper workload distribution and coverage.
* Design and implement actionable plans to properly allocate materials and resources to achieve manufacturing targets.
* Support each departments operational functionality and efficiency to optimize their budget and production schedule(s).
* Optimize the production process by way of internal studies and industry best practices.
* Collaborate with each department to ensure candidate selection and development supports organizational objectives.
* Communicate with sales staff to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats to create competitive advantage strategies.
* Oversee the procurement process and applicability of raw materials and equipment required for manufacturing.
* Ensure our manufacturing practices are in compliance with Health and Safety regulations and standards.
* Analyze and provide solutions to manufacturing challenges or problems.
* Collaborate with the Quality Systems Department to ensure quality consistently meets product specifications.
* Work closely with Maintenance to ensure their needs are seamlessly integrated into the master operations schedule.
* Participate in Food Safety walks and audits.
* Build teamwork and collaboration within all departments of the organization.
* Mainly working 2nd and 3rd shift with one required weekend day required each week.
* Performs a variety of related tasks and other duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
* Exceptional time management and organizational skills with the ability to problem solve and decision making.
* Effective and diligent communication is required.
* Must be able to generate clear and effective written correspondence.
* Ability to analyze details and deadlines with appropriate information.
* Must be able to read and comprehend production materials along with the ability to count and perform basic math.
* Must be skilled in operating and examining production equipment for faults.
* Must have general knowledge of how machinery works.
* Have the ability to coordinate the different stages of manufacturing to ensure seamless operations.
* Competent computer skills including MS Office Suite is a plus.

Requirements & Physical Demands

* High School Diploma or Equivalent.
* 5 or more years working in a fast-paced production or technical environment.

* Must be capable of lifting or maneuvering up to sixty pounds alone and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
* Ability to keep up with machine speed through repetitive motion.
* Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
* Must be physically capable of moving to all areas of the bakery plants. Must be capable of reaching, bending, stooping, climbing, pushing, and pulling as required.
* Must be able to view products and determine adherence to quality control standards including size, smell, shape, color, cut, etc.
* Must be able to perform all duties so as not to produce damage.
* Must be able to read, comprehend and practice necessary safety procedures, signs.
* Must be able to climb ladders, crawl under equipment and work in tight spaces.
