EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Bachelor's Degree
- Experience
2 years hospital, clinic scheduling/admitting experience required. and
Proven clinical background/experience, knowledge of scheduling/patient registration and office procedures in medical or hospital office setting, and proven leadership/supervisory experience. and
May consider experience in lieu of education.
JOB DUTIES
- Demonstrates continuous performance improvement in targeted areas of responsibility in alignment with the overall annual department performance improvement targets.
- Meets or exceeds financial goals and objectives of the department.
- Plans, organizes, assigns, reviews, and evaluates work of all patient intake staff. Provides direction, development, and guidance to staff. Provides on-going training; motivates staff to achieve goals and objectives. Keeps staff informed of changes in provisions and requirements for governmental, managed care programs, and hospital information resource systems. Assists manager with daily operation and department staffing schedule, ensuring coverage for all shifts.
- Schedules all applicable patient care requests accurately as to procedure type, exam, area, physician referral, location, and time of procedure; balances exams with patient/customer time requests and provider availability. May interview patient and/or physician's office staff to obtain medical history and patient demographic information. Identifies and obtains essential information related to intake, verification, and pre-certification on all applicable patient accounts. Revises information in computer system as needed. Documents pertinent information and efforts in computer system based upon department documentation standards. Maintains department productivity standards.
- Participates in development of recommendations for workflow, programs, and/or procedures affecting revenue management. May assist manager in timely/accurate preparation of weekly and monthly statistical reports to assist in revenue forecasting.
- Demonstrates on-going competency skills, in all aspects of department scheduling and patient coordination. Communicates with all levels of associates, management, and physicians. Resolves problems and/or or answers questions regarding patient appointments and registration. Performs other duties as assigned.
- Duties performed may include one or more of the following core functions: a) Directly interacting with or caring for patients; b) Directly interacting with or caring for human-subjects research participants; c) Regularly maintaining, modifying, releasing or similarly affecting patient records (including patient financial records); or d) Regularly maintaining, modifying, releasing or similarly affecting human-subjects research records.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
