Job Objective:
Leads a team of Automations Specialists focused on delivery of automation and control projects to ensure sustainable and reliable operations for PBU. This role is focused on automation project delivery, but will also work in conjunction with other automation and control professionals assisting with daily operational support as required.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Anticipate project staffing needs and provide input to selection of project team members.
- Identify, plan and execute Automation projects that support Prudhoe Bay process control sustainability program, including:
- Identifying projects that fit within scheduled maintenance activities throughout the field.
- Develop budget proposal and identify project resources.
- Coordinate with facility personnel to identify impacts and develop execution strategy.
- Target systems that fit within Automation Team 5-year Plan.
- Work with Automation Specialists and PAC Techs to identify system with the most vulnerability.
- Coordinate development of design between designers and Automation Specialists.
- Conduct field walkdowns for design verification with designers and field support personnel.
- Provide support for the development of the PLC program. Review PLC programing and HMI development.
- Manage project schedules by maintaining developmental milestones and effectively communicating these to all stakeholders.
- Track project costs on a daily basis as well as manage the project schedule based on those costs.
- Develop and implement innovative project development and execution strategies.
- Provides visible leadership between Automation Team, facility personnel and construction crews in the field. Emphasizes safety in all aspects of the project.
- Lead the team to apply project management principles and effectively and safely deliver scope, budget and schedule of projects.
- Actively seeks opportunities to add value to the operations team by checking in with customers on a frequent basis. Does not wait for direction or for a request for support, but seeks out opportunities.
- Prepares bid packages and requests for proposals. Knowledgeable on various contract mechanisms and bidding strategies to ensure best value for Hilcorp.
- Evaluates contractor bids and proposals and makes unbiased selections.
- Proactively assesses and manages the safety culture and performance of the work crews.
- Ensures compliance with drawings, specifications, codes, and regulations. Initiates assistance and seeks out expertise when needed with engineering (facility engineers, integrity engineers, contract engineers etc), and/or Operations personnel. While not the expert on everything, must possesses a wide breadth of understanding of the various requirements to ensure compliance and build these skills within the team.

Other Job Responsibilities:
- Makes frequent field visits to provide visible leadership to facility operations and maintenance crews.
- Identifies ways to plan and execute project in order to reduce costs and improve quality and/or safety.
- Works with the FACT Foreman and Automation Operations Reliability Lead to effectively support PBU Operations by adjusting priorities and directing resources in response to operational priorities.
- Self-performs management and technical aspects of a project to the maximum extent possible.
Qualifications:
- Ten (10) years minimum experience in the design, installation, and commissioning of oil and gas process control equipment.
- Ability to accurately solve problems.
- Ability to communicate and report effectively across all levels of the company.
- Ability to work long hours in order to cover/monitor assigned field territory.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public.
- Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities.
- Ability to effectively manage contract crews while exhibiting the company's core values.
- Proficiency in the use and application of the following software:
Required: Microsoft Office, AspenTech IP.21, AVEVA System Platform and Historian, Microsoft SQL, Dragos Platform, AVEVA PI System, PowerBI
- Proficiency in the support and maintenance of the following hardware:
Prefered:ControlLoigix, SLC, PLC5, RX3i, 90-30, APACS, Modicon

- Ability to demonstrate strong, dynamic team leadership skills and an intense customer service focus.

- Strong working knowledge of Project Management principles and demonstrated ability to effectively these principles to successful delivery of projects in terms of safety, schedule, and budget.
Education Requirements:
- Required: Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent; or any equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating sufficient knowledge, ability, and skill to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
- Engineering degree is preferred.Relevant field experience, including electrical and instrumentation will be considered.
