Why do we need you ?

The Quality Engineer supports all site activities related to Quality Assurance with an emphasis on Products and Processes related (but not limited to) the Nuclear industry. They will support Ominseals various processes from Contract Review through product realization to post product delivery support.

Provide technical expertise to assist in a variety of quality areas under the guidance of the Quality Systems Manager. This position plans and directs activities concerned with development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for processes, materials, and products with emphasis on Nuclear related products.

Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation, utilizing tools within the engineering field. This position devises sampling procedures and develops forms and instructions for recording and evaluating testing measurement and analytical equipment for the facility.

The Quality Engineer will participate in and at times lead Internal Audits as well as external 2nd part supplier audits and will be responsible for corrective action issue and follow up.

Essential functions include, but are not limited to:



  • Responsible for developing processes, procedures and documentation with a specific focus on Nuclear customers and Nuclear industry related requirements. Emphasis on compliance to NQA-1.

  • Coordinate and respond to customer quality requests/requirements/ concerns related to products. (Some travel may be required). This includes development and submission of NQA/AIAG or customer specific PPAP/FAI Documentation.

  • Corrective Action/NCR/NCMR/SCAR response and resolution including creation of RMA documentation.

  • Identify and implement quality improvements based on facility, customer, and Quality Standard requirements. Help with implementation of audit standards including advanced auditing requirements.

  • Meet with customers or suppliers to solve quality issues and customer/supplier audits as required.

  • Train team members in use of "quality tools" (i.e. SPC, FMEA, TS & Control Plans).

  • Utilize various department equipment in assessing quality level of products and processes. Develop and maintain electronic information databases to improve efficiency and productivity.

  • Assist with calibration and development of measurement systems.

  • Communicate and cooperate with fellow employees to maintain quality, operational efficiency and safety.

  • Understand all environmental policies and significant environmental impact of job activities in accordance with the ISO 14001 standards.

Is this job for you ?

  • BS/BA Degree is required.
  • 5+ years' experience working as a Quality Engineer or equivalent is required.
  • Experience working with nuclear compliance requirements and quality system is highly preferred.
  • Experience working with heavily regulated government projects is preferred.
  • Computer, data collection and analysis skills necessary to fulfill job responsibilities are required.
  • Demonstrated research and problem solving skills.
  • Statistical Process Control- ability to interpret data and train/coach others in use is preferred.
  • Experience in developing and compiling PPAP/FAI submission information is required.
  • NQA-1,IATF, ISO-9001/AS-9100 QMS knowledge and experience is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings is required.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes. products, and product applications. The ability to work with a wide range of people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to read and react to quality issues including work with production and engineering to create temporary and permanent corrective actions is required.

To make sure nothing is forgotten

Certain states require pay information be provided in job postings. Saint-Gobain aims to deliver a comprehensive Total Rewards package to support our employees' wellbeing and help improve daily life for themselves and their families. We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer prospective candidates and provide the national pay range for this position which is $79,500 to $123,400 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 10% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $87,400 to $135,700. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
