Printpack is seeking a Finishing Manager for their VR1 facility located in Villa Rica, GA. This position will report to the Production Manager. Primary Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate and lead the department in a commitment to safe behavior and to making the plant a safer place to work. Be involved and support the effort to identify hazards, risk assessments, and risk controls for unacceptable hazards.

  • Planning, determine optimal utilization of manufacturing workers and equipment to meet manufacturing goals.

  • Increase equipment reliability through ownership of continuous improvement and proactive measures that prevent efficiency loss

  • Manage the daily production operations of the Slitting and Bag Departments at pre-established standards for quality, waste, and productivity.

  • Manage the Slitting and Bag Department by following established production schedules to maximize the utilization of equipment and associates.

  • Ensure proper levels of staffing for Slitting and Bag Departments and ensure that all associates are trained in their job responsibilities.

  • Implement and manage inventory control system.

  • Provide leadership to both direct and indirect reports. Ensure all company and local policies and practices are followed in a consistent, timely, and accurate manner.

  • Provide appropriate feedback to facilitate the professional and personal development of all direct reports utilizing individual business plans. Address performance issues in a timely manner.

  • Support the teamwork of all internal departments working effectively together to achieve external customer satisfaction.

  • Analyze manufacturing data and identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement; identify and utilize methods of making manufacturing process more efficient and effective (reducing waste, using lean).

  • Drive Plant initiatives and programs by facilitating and encouraging employee engagement in all areas.

  • Direct corrective action of any manufacturing problems that may arise; work with Quality Manager in development and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA, RCCA, etc.)

  • Write manufacturing reports and present to top management.

  • Responsible for capital and expense projects.

  • Act asemergency coordinatorfor the plant.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Direct supervision experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Experience working with and implementing Lean Manufacturing principles

  • Knowledge and communication of statistical methods and financial drivers

Additional Skills and Qualifications:
  • Strong capacity to learn quickly and understand complex information without difficulty

  • Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of settings and strict time constraints

  • Competent in making analysis involving written and verbal data

  • Strong information gathering and analysis ability

  • Ability to perform and communicate complex calculations and data

  • Ability to effectively use numerical data to make decisions

  • Demonstrates high initiative and proactivity

  • Effective at multitasking

  • Ability to function well with and lead teams

  • Time management skills

  • Moves quickly when making decisions

  • Strong presentation skills

  • Good communication skills - written, verbal and interpersonal

  • Ability to work with manufacturing and non-manufacturing associates

  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills, and the ability to maintain long and short-term projects

  • Ability to react quickly and logically to manufacturing problems

  • Time scheduled to allow for interaction with all shifts

  • Bachelors or Engineering degree in a field that is compatible with the position requirements or equivalent experience

    Internal Candidates:
    • Last performance review must have been "Performer" or better

    • No disciplinary actions beyond a written within the past 120 days

    • Must have been in current position for at least 120 days
