Job Objective:

We are seeking a skilled Instrument Technician to join the Operations and Maintenance Team at the Milne Point Unit in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. This vital role supports the day-to-day operations and maintenance of our oil field infrastructure, ensuring the reliability and performance of critical systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing instrumentation and electrical systems essential to our production activities. This position offers a 14 days on/14 days off rotation, providing an excellent work-life balance in one of the most dynamic and rewarding environments in the oil industry.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Instrumentation Maintenance and Repair:
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical, electronic, and pneumatic instruments and systems, including sensors, transmitters, and control elements.
  • Calibrate and configure instrumentation to ensure precise measurement and control of operational processes.
  • System Troubleshooting and Diagnostics:
  • Diagnose and resolve issues within control systems, PLCs, and automation components to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Perform routine and emergency maintenance on instrumentation and electrical systems.
  • Operational Support:
  • Support the operations of rotary drilling rigs and ASR rigs by ensuring instrumentation systems meet the demands of new wells and well workovers.
  • Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to optimize system performance and contribute to project success.
  • Software and Technology Proficiency:
  • Utilize tools like SharePoint, OneNote, Teams, and Project for the Web for documentation, communication, and project management.
  • Stay adaptable to new technologies to improve operational efficiency and teamwork.
  • Safety and Compliance:
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulatory standards specific to the oil industry in Alaska.
  • Ensure compliance with hazardous area classifications and safe work practices.
  • Participate in safety meetings and training to reinforce the company's safety-first culture.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and project progress.
  • Provide detailed reports for instrumentation repairs, replacements, and system performance.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in oil and gas instrumentation systems or related fields.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with automation systems and electrical systems in industrial environments.
  • Commitment to safety and operational excellence.

Other Job Responsibilities:

  • Ability to work a 14/14 rotational shift.
  • Ability to be available 24 hours per day (on call for questions, emergencies, etc.).
  • Maintains employee confidence and protects company assets, including intellectual property, by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred associate degree in electrical and/or Instrumentation, or a related field, supplemented by a minimum of five years of experience in instrumentation and electrical maintenance, ideally within the oil and gas industry.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret electrical and instrumentation schematics and diagrams, coupled with robust troubleshooting skills and proficiency in using electronic test equipment.
  • Extensive knowledge of, and experience with, drilling operations, well workovers, and the unique challenges associated with operations in the Alaskan oil fields.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and the ability to meet the company's driving standards are required. Candidates must also pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening.
  • Outstanding communication skills and the capacity to work effectively within a team-oriented environment, especially under the challenging conditions typical of remote oil field operations.

Preferred Education Requirements:

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical, Instrumentation, or a related field, complemented by a minimum of 5 years of experience in instrumentation and electrical maintenance, preferably within the oil and gas sector.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Licensed Electrician in the State of Alaska.
