About the Unit

Our team is comprised of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. Our inpatient pharmacy team collaborates closely with healthcare providers to ensure optimal medication management for hospitalized patients. We oversee the medication storage, distribution, and management in a variety of settings. We review medication orders for accuracy and potential interactions, accurately prepare and dispense medications, provide evidence-based drug information, monitor drug levels to optimize therapy, and educate patients and families about their medications. By prioritizing medication safety and minimizing adverse events, we strive to improve patient outcomes and contribute to their overall well-being.

Scope of work

Provides Pharmaceutical Care according to professional and departmental standards and statutory requirements. Provides safe, effective, rational, and cost-conscious pharmacotherapeutic recommendations through the department's medication management programs. The Clinical Pharmacist assists in supervising the functional activities of Pharmacy Technicians and Interns. Participates in department directed medication management activities consistent with Beaumont Health goals and objectives. The Clinical Pharmacist will demonstrate good judgment and decisiveness during daily activities, maintaining a working knowledge of current pharmaceutical practice, and demonstrate a personal commitment to professional growth. The Clinical Pharmacist will support management by providing oversight, guidance and support for all assigned areas and will participate in the planning, organization, implementation, and monitoring of new programs and activities.

Qualifications

  • Required Bachelor's Degree or Pharm.D. degree in pharmacy.
  • Preferred residency training.
  • 3 years of relevant experience 3 years of experience as a clinical pharmacist or pharmacy residency/fellowship preferred. In absence of residency training, candidates with demonstrated superior knowledge (board certification, considerable practical clinical experience, etc.) in area of focus may be considered preferred.
  • Clinical Pharmacist license- State of Michigan or eligible to obtain Upon Hire required
  • Pharmacist Controlled Substance license - State of Michigan or eligible to obtain Upon Hire required
