JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Prospect Development serves as a member of the Advancement Services Leadership Team and is integral to UT Southwestern's prospect identification and pipeline management efforts. The Director manages the Prospect Development team and will execute a comprehensive prospect development program that identifies, rates, and recommends prospects through biographical, financial, and philanthropic research in support of priority fundraising campaigns.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required
- Education
Bachelor's Degree in business or a related field.
- Experience
10 years progressively responsible experience managing a prospect research and management team, and related infrastructure.
Expert understanding of prospect development functions, industry best practices, and fundraising program management. Successful experience implementing policies and best practice procedures in a complex, matrixed fundraising environment.
Preferred
- Education
Master's Degree in a related field.
- Experience
5 years supervisory/managerial experience.
- Licenses and Certifications
APRA or APRA North Texas membership.
JOB DUTIES
- Collaborates with Assistant Vice President of Advancement Services and Associate Vice President of Development to set priorities for Prospect Development in alignment with overall strategic priorities for the institution and department.
- Provides leadership and strategic vision for the Prospect Development team with an emphasis on major- and principal-gift prospect research and management.
- Manages the planning, design, execution, and communication of a comprehensive Prospect Development strategy to grow the institution's base of support and optimize donor pipelines.
- Oversees the daily operations of the Prospect Development team, managing overall workflow related to prospect identification, research, strategy, and management efforts, and ensuring the integrity of all research output and analyses.
- Utilizes fundraising best practices, knowledge of the institution's donor base, and familiarity with institutional initiatives and programs to collaborate with fundraising colleagues in the development and management of portfolios and the design and development of cultivation and solicitation strategies for major donor prospects.
- Provides department leadership with fundraising and campaign support through comprehensive data analytics to inform strategic decisions with data-driven insights.
- Serves as a strategic partner and internal consultant to fundraising programs and colleagues across the department and institution, providing evaluative and consultative services, as needed.
- Promotes best practices in gathering, storing, and maintaining data, and delivers customized information and analyses that contribute to building quality relationships with prospective donors and strengthening relationships and connections between UT Southwestern and current donors.
- Maintains strict handling of confidential information and helps ensure team abides by HIPAA and FERPA regulations.
- Collaborates with executive team, development officers, data and systems management team, and gift administration to ensure a culture of analytics that highlights and embraces the power of data and its ability to support and inform decision-making.
- Develops and implements best practices related to Prospect Development, proactively identifying opportunities to streamline processes and increase accuracy and efficiency, and establishes, documents, and updates Prospect Development policies and procedures as necessary.
- Serves actively as a member of The University of Texas System Advancement Services workgroup and Advancement Services leadership team.
- Ensures a service-oriented Prospect Development team that is responsive to user needs across the department and institution.
