Accounting Manager
Location: Hybrid, Cary, NC (2-3 days per week in the office)

A growing, private equity-backed manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join its Finance & Accounting team. This hybrid role is based in Cary, NC, and offers a dynamic work environment with opportunities for collaboration, professional growth, and process improvement. Position Summary:
The Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing financial operations and reporting for designated plants and business units, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial statements. This role involves partnering with plant leadership, driving process improvements, and contributing to the company's financial success. The Accounting Manager will also play a key role in supporting audits, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decision-making.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. This role currently manages one team member, with plans to expand to two direct reports in the near future.

Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and analyze financial statements for assigned plants, including income statements and balance sheets.
Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Create and review journal entries and complex reconciliations for accounts such as inventory, obsolescence, and accrued expenses.
Collaborate with plant managers to identify cost-saving opportunities and maximize profitability.
Assist with the development and management of annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
Analyze financial data to provide actionable insights and recommendations to management.
Review and analyze variances between actual results and budgeted targets, identifying opportunities for improvement.
Support external audit processes by preparing financial data and coordinating with auditors.
Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and SOX requirements, addressing key accounting issues in partnership with corporate teams.
Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the finance function.
Partner with materials management teams to ensure timely and accurate processing of material transactions and maintain cycle-counting processes.
Contribute to the development and enhancement of financial reporting systems and processes.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
5+ years of experience in roles such as Accounting Manager, Cost Accountant, or equivalent.
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial analysis.
Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and plant leadership.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Self-motivated, with strong time management and organizational skills.
Leadership experience with a focus on driving results and fostering team development.
Professional certification (e.g., CPA) is a plus but not required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, JD Edwards) is preferred.
