The Division of Academic & Student Affairs (

The Juntos Program brings parents, youth, and communities together to help Latinx youth succeed in high school and pursue a higher education. This is done through four main components:
- Family Engagement
- Juntos 4-H clubs
- Success Coaching or Mentoring, and
- Summer Programming or the Juntos Summer Academy.
This summer, the Juntos program will hold its 15th Juntos Summer Academy in-person at North Carolina State University. The Juntos Academy gives Latinx students who are part of the Juntos program in NC, a week-long college experience packed with fun and educational opportunities.
We are looking for enthusiastic, energetic, passionate, and motivated college students with exemplary character and leadership skills who want to make a positive impact on the lives of rising 9th-12th grade Latinx youth.
Juntos Summer Academy Team Captains will be mentors and team leaders to students during the Juntos Academy at NC State University on Sunday, June 16th - Saturday, June 21st. Team Captains will receive a $1000 stipend (housing and meals are provided for the week).
Interviews will be conducted via zoom. Once selected, Team Captains are required to attend a zoom informational meeting in May (exact date will be determined later). Academy will start with an in-person training orientation on Sunday, June 15th, with students arriving on Tuesday, June 17th.
Primary Purpose of Position:
- Counselor Position for our overnight, week-long summer program from Sunday, June 15th - Saturday, June 21st
- Stay at North Carolina State University dormitory, 24/7, includes meals
- Be a positive role model at all times
- Co-lead and provide guidance to a group of 10-15 rising 9th to 12th grade students
- Be available to attend Introductory Zoom meeting in May
- Follow NCSU housing and campus visitor's policies and procedures
- Not have in their possession or consume illegal drugs, or alcoholic beverages at any time. Any inappropriate behavior can lead to disciplinary/legal actions and/or immediate termination
- Assist in early morning & late night room checks
- Participate and encourage youth to actively engage in workshops, activities, and projects. Encourage youth to have a positive attitude.
- Follow the Team Captain Guide (provided on the day of orientation).
- Communicate effectively with program directors, academy leaders, fellow team captains, youth, and volunteers.
- Report any inappropriate behavior observed during the Academy to leaders and/or program director immediately
- Be willing to share your personal experience in achieving high school graduation and pursuing higher education.
- Other duties as assigned.
