Staff Manufacturing Engineer

As a Manufacturing Engineer at Itron, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining methods, operational sequences, and both manual and automated processes for manufacturing or fabricating parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies. The individual will collaborate with design engineering to coordinate the release of new products. Responsibilities include estimating manufacturing costs, determining time standards, and recommending tooling and process requirements for both new and existing product lines. The role also requires maintaining records and reporting systems to ensure efficient coordination of manufacturing operations.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate expertise with robotic systems and PLC-based control systems. Additionally, the candidate will support manufacturing operations, new product introductions (NPI), and cost-saving initiatives through the application of automated systems.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage projects with respect to schedule, budget, and program deliverables.
  • Support existing and new automation integration and continuous improvement.
  • Recognize the effect of changes on related components.
  • Resolve in-depth manufacturing and quality problems.
  • Prepare plans, schedules, and budgets for manufacturing engineering tasks.
  • Specify and procure new equipment to support products.
  • Maintain updated work instructions and procedures.
  • Generate process flow charts and support PFMEA, MFMEA, control plans.
  • Recommend and implement process and product changes to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Develop and maintain accurate project timelines for new and existing programs.
  • Use OEE data to track and improve key variables in both manual and automated systems.
  • Support continuous improvement programs that improve process OEE and KPIs.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3+ years of previous Manufacturing Engineer experience in a manufacturing environment or related experience.
  • Project Management Experience with automation experience (PLCs (AB & Beckhoff), robotics (Fanuc & Staubli)
  • CAD experience (Solidworks, Pro-E/Creo, etc..)

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or related field required

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Vision Systems Experience is highly preferred.
