Legal Processing Services Operations Unit Manager
The Legal Processing Services Operations Unit Manager role is part of the supervisory/management team and is responsible for participating in overall management of the functions for the subpoena support team, including receipt and intake or subpoenas, retrieval of statements, checks, deposits, wires, etc. in compliance with subpoenas, and compliance review of completed subpoenas. Management of the team involves ensuring all new subpoena cases are inputted correctly and routed for proper assignment daily, ensuring the retrieval of thousands of images per day is managed optimally (based on subpoena due dates and sensitivity on particular cases), and ensuring that compliance review is focused optimally and is being completed timely to avoid any errors in Comerica's outgoing production to attorneys and Courts.

Position Responsibilities:



  • Ensure that the work functions are performed and consistently meet established service level agreements and key performance measurements.
  • Leverage data and workflow tools to manage processes, including taking steps to correct/improve variances/issues.
  • Handle escalated issues from direct reports; making decisions regarding issues and escalation.
  • Serve as escalation point for issues with customers and clients. Decide when issues should be escalated to management and/or legal counsel.
  • Oversee (by leading and/or delegating) training for new staff.
  • Implement and update procedures regularly.
  • Assist in gathering responsive information for Internal Audits.
  • Perform monthly self-audits and random audits of work done to ensure compliance with bank and governmental procedures and implement change as necessary.
  • Identify risks associated with tasks/activities and take steps to mitigate or eliminate.
  • Participate in Business Continuity exercises and successfully pass all tests.
  • Ensure procedures and process flows are maintained and updated as needed, must meet annual deadline for certification.
  • Leverage tools to ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained, including the use of overtime.
  • Ensure compliance to all department, corporate and government procedures and policies
  • Human Resources Management.
  • Provide timely administration of PMPs, timecard and PTO approvals for direct reports.
  • Effectively manage staff according to the Comerica Human Resources policies.
  • Leverage experience in developing, influencing, and motivating employees and in fostering positive team morale.

Position Qualifications



  • Associates degree from an accredited college with coursework in Law and Finance
  • 3 years of experience in supervisory or management
  • 3 years of experience in banking operations or legal operations
  • 3 years of experience utilizing Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Work Best Category: Category C - Days in the office will either be designated days or will vary week to week from 2-5 days Hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday - Friday, this role provides both onsite and remote work. Salary: To Be Determined Based on Individual Experience
