What is the Opportunity?

This position is part of the Chief Controls Office and is responsible for supporting the Third-Party activities, cross functionally, for RBC Bank. The Vendor Risk Manager 1LoD will provide governance and oversight to ensure alignment to the enterprise-wide third-party management program and drive a centralized vendor risk management process. In addition to aligning with enterprise-wide programs, the Vendor Risk Manager 1LoD will also ensure alignment with FFIEC, OCC, and FRB regulatory expectations. This role will also maintain procedural documents and provide reporting for vendor related activities.

What will you do?

  • Perform third party supplier risk assessments and provide ongoing subject matter expertise to business and functional support leads
  • Partner and coordinate closely with internal stakeholders areas (i.e., Supplier Management Office, Third Party Risk, Procurement, Business Units) for timely completion of vendor assessments and ongoing monitoring responsibilities
  • Maintain complete listing of RBC Bank vendors, engagement, risk tiering and contact information
  • Ensure active engagements have appropriate contracts in the system of record
  • Responsible for conducting the ongoing monitoring and management of vendors on a timely manner based on vendor tier
  • Support Business Units with tracking and/or remediation of identified issues, findings and/or exceptions
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc reporting for 1LOD Division leadership and committees
  • Escalate any delays, significant gaps etc. to management in a timely manner
  • Responsible for maintaining a centralized repository for all supporting artifacts (i.e., Ongoing Monitoring)
  • Participate in Business Continuity Planning activities as they relate to Third Party engagements including exit plans and internal contingency plans
  • Provide risk awareness training to Business Unit colleagues in support of Third Party Risk Management Policies, Standards and Procedures
  • Manage team of third-party risk professionals
  • Execute program enhancements for third party suppliers intragroup Intragroup Arrangements
  • Perform reviews of SOC1/SOC2 reporting for suppliers
  • Analyze and pay vendor invoices for payment in alignment with agreed costs

What do you need to succeed?

7-10 years of experience

Skills & Capabilities include:

  • Experience in implementing risk management practices in the financial services industry including supplier risk assessments
  • Strong understanding of Third Party Risk Management including resiliency of outsourced technology services
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and leading practices regarding Third Party Risk Management
  • Execution of policies and procedures and proficient in risk management methodologies
  • Strategic mindset and effective collaboration skills
  • Understanding of Banking services and processes
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong customer service focus
  • Experience in identifying and implementing appropriate controls for effective risk mitigation
  • Experience in defining and implementing effective management reporting
  • Experience working in a complex, matrix environment and proactively managing a diverse set of stakeholders.
  • Experience in implementing practical communication strategies to ensure that policies are understood and are adhered to.
  • Experience using third party risk management / Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) systems
