The College of Business (
COB) has been
AACSB accredited for over 40 years. We offer
BSBA,
MBA, and
MSA degrees and our School of Hospitality Management offers both a BS in Hospitality Management and an MS in Sustainable Tourism and Hospitality. Additionally, the Miller School of Entrepreneurship offers a BS in Entrepreneurship. We are one of the largest Colleges of Business in the state with approximately 4,200 undergraduate and 900 graduate students. To date, the
COB has approximately 150 faculty members of the highest caliber, skilled in the scholarship of research, teaching, and application of knowledge. The Department of Management Information Systems (
MIS) within the College of Business at
ECU has 19 faculty members and offers courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Management Information Systems faculty promotes a collegial and stimulating environment that encourages intellectual collaboration and professional development through education, research, creative activities, and service. |
Job Duties |
The Department of Management Information Systems (
MIS), in the College of Business at East Carolina University, is seeking a full-time, nine-month Teaching Instructor to teach undergraduate Management Information Systems and Data Analytics courses beginning August 2025 with the possibility of beginning January 2025.
The Teaching Instructor will teach twelve semester hours during fall and spring semesters at the undergraduate level in Management Information Systems and Data Analytics and will be able to teach a variety of
MIS introductory and concentration courses in the
MIS curriculum. The Teaching Instructor will also be expected to provide service to the university, community, profession, and any other duties as assigned by the department chair.

Minimum Education/Experience |
Master's degree with at least 18 credit hours of Graduate coursework in the teaching field or related discipline from an accredited business school that satisfies credentialing under
SACS guidelines and
AACSB standards. Alternatively, Master's degree in the teaching field or related discipline from an accredited business school with 5 years professional experience that satisfies credentialing under
SACS guidelines and
AACSB standards. The candidate must possess the qualifications necessary to be designated a professionally qualified faculty member in accordance with
AACSB standards. |

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education |
Preference will be given to candidates who have a university teaching background in any of the following areas: systems analysis, design, and implementation, databases, data warehouses and lakes, data mining, machine learning, big data analytics, artificial intelligence, visualization, cybersecurity, programming, data communications, or other current issues in the field. Areas of specialization span the broad range of management information systems and data analytics topics with a special preference for the use of analytics tools, including
SQL,
SAS, Tableau, Power BI, and Python, as well as cloud platforms, including
AWS and Azure. It is preferred that all candidates are able to demonstrate a commitment and proven record of excellence in teaching and have the ability to initiate and supervise interdisciplinary and applied projects. Recent relevant work experience and relevant professional certifications are preferred. |
